This is the only downside of this whole thing for me... From what we've seen so far with the snippets, etc. we know Gaga have been cooking an amazing record. But with the addition of DWAS, while I'm sure she will make it work on the album, I just know that this will be all critics will talk about in their reviews... While personally I'll enjoy the album just the same, it's sad to think that once again she probably won't have the acclaim she deserves.
monketsharona 59,607
No shade but the reputation of her being a collab success only recently is also highly due to her team / label. I mean they trully messed on a lot of solo smash hits easy occasions like ARUTW screaming being sent officially to global radios. And them not jumping on Bloody Mary HUGE trend. Any smart management team in this business would have made those #1 in every charts possible in the world. The two songs peaking #41 on Hot 100 just does not seems right, like at all. Just like them not jumping on the post ASIB hype. Everyone was hyped by Chromatica, it had her biggest debut since BTW. The fanbase was on the edge of her being back to dance music. She just dropped it, left and only returned when everyone moved on. I totally get she's pushin 40 and she doesn't give a **** of charts. But let's not cry over some of those 'shady' articles when they pulled so much effort into making DWAS #1 but never cared about some of her solo songs that were screaming huge hits. They trully gave ther haters a reason to hate on a big shiny plate tbh. 5 1
MACATL 1,114
I read about half that then realized it kept going and going and going and going. Also, he thinks Bruno/Cardi B is a better “duet.” Whatev.

The Katy comparison was the only thing I disagreed with, since her flopping was more to do with the fact that the music ****ing sucked. She had a ton of goodwill before she released "Woman's World"

dit 45,727
it's not wrong tho. Gaga has indeed needed a strong feature for a while to get a solid multi week top 10 in the US for a while now. Her last proper solo hit was Always Remember Us This Way and because it was never sent to US radio it didnt get to really thrive sadly so one can make the argument that her last proper solo hit was probably Million Reasons back in 2016... That said, as the title suggests, its the magic that Gaga can bring to a collab that makes it huge! it's just she needs to channel whatever she is doing in collabs into her solo stuff too for the public I think. I just dont know what it is exactly
dit 45,727
i know we say dont listen to the OGH but they do have a slight point about her not having many multi week top 10s solo in a while...I do hope they find a way to make one or two solo songs hits off of LG7 but idk if that can happen with how Disease has performed tragically on the charts

StrawberryBlond 14,255
I do agree with a lot of it but the way it's put down is a bit dismissive in places. I can't believe in 2025 that Gaga is still being compared to Katy. I really thought they'd stopped doing that, but here we are. It seems that no matter how much Gaga blows way past Katy, there will always be that comparison because they started out at the same time. Though I give them props for stating that what happened to Katy's career wasn't unusual, it was a very normal timeline for the average artist's successful peak yet, nowadays, for some weird reason, we seem to think every artist should be successful for the rest of their days even though its never been like that. And I don't know why they didn't just say the obvious: Gaga will always have a harder time making a comeback because she's a woman and Bruno has always had it easier as a man. It's a sad fact that women are a lot more loyal to male artists than they are their fellow females. And if the song's a hit, it's because people like it, plain and simple. There have been many collabs by big names that have flopped, so there's no guarantee that a certain person on a track guarantees a hit. I was just pointing out the other day that Bruno's collabed with other women before but those collabs never went #1, yet we still want to say that Bruno's the sole reason behind its success? Forgetting that Gaga's maintained a successful career with a loyal fanbase for years? And that it was mostly them buying those live versions that were put out recently? But on the positive side, I'm glad they mentioned how it was very Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton inspired, that's immediately what I thought of when that single cover came out. Can you imagine if they use this as a springboard to work on another collab in the future, like another RnB/pop duo who's done very well in the charts - The Weeknd and Ariana? I don't see a problem with Gaga utilising this same collab model like other popstars have done to keep her name out there. Some hard truths to swallow here and there, but ultimately true. Slate just never seems to truly support Gaga, though. They always were harder on female artists for years though, its only started turning around recently. juicyjuicy 1,845
Wow, it’s actually a big back-handed compliment and quite scathing @ Gaga. It’s terrible Gaga is getting flack again from the media.
