Nuclear icebreakers Russia's nuclear icebreakers are used to transport cargo along the Northern Sea Route. Some of these icebreakers are armed. Mostly inaccessible due to the permafrost etc. Global warming is reducing the amount of ice and frozen ground that stands in the way of it. And since no government is legitimately addressing climate change, it makes sense that people like Trump and the GOP want the land ready to drain it. In 2019 Canada put out a new policy framework re: the Arctic and while a lot of the goals were like, "protect Indigenous people!" "protect the environment!" the whole undercurrent was "yo, Russia and other foreign powers are gonna try and steal our Northern Territories when the ice melts!!" If Denmark wants to keep it, it better develops nuclear weapons otherwise it won't be able to defend Greenland. America also invaded Hawaii in the past.
