Trudeau is now in hiding, he is totally going to try and ride this out. His own MP's are on national TV calling him delusional. What a sad end to what could have been a pretty good legacy if he had read the room and resigned about a year ago.

People used to like Trudeau, didn’t they? What happened?

He campaigned on electoral reforming. Won. And then didn’t. He lost support from many people starting then.

Why do people no longer like Trudeau? I haven’t been following Canadian politics/economy news. When I moved to the UK in 2018, he was still quite popular. I can’t help but notice everything has skyrocketed in price every time I come back home though (about once a year).

Honestly, incumbency, he has been in power for 9 years and that is more or less the lifespan of a Canadian PM over the last 70 years. Coupled with his economic record, no one cared when Canada's economy was doing well, but now that its not... progressives, or faux progressives are really hated on.

I think the period of time has a lot to do with it yes as only a handful of PMs ever lasted longer than a decade...

However theres no denying the decline of Canada in countless measurements relative to our peers has only accelerated during his rule. He has at least some responsibility on it. A consistent decline doesnt happen for no reason. Clearly todays policies are not working super well.

Im not saying all of it is his fault but imo hes neverthless failed to be innovative and he has not balanced the desire to redistribute well (which in itself is noble and desirable) with the very real need to also grow economy, productivity and investment along with it so we can afford that redistribution and spending on important programs

These are very real failures u cant blame on the time in office alone. If anything it further reinforces that hes had enough time to get some positive results by now if his strategies were gonna work
