Oriane 19,785
I remember when there was a thread about it on here and everyone in the comments was hating it for no reason, they hadn't even seen it I'm surprised it was a flop, it was good, and I expected many people to come after the success of La La Land. I guess I tend to forget that the average person only watches a movie based on its plot and genre. I'll never understand this argument but I think it's just like what I said in my post above. As a movie buff, I have given up on labels for a long time, and some of my favorite movies are precisely those that experiment, cross genres and don't follow typical movie structure and expectations. When people ask me what my favorite genre of movie is, I just have no answer because I am looking for something beyond that. I don't even like musicals in general, and yet the musical aspect in FÀD has to be one of my favorites ever, precisely because it's done in a unique and daring way that serves the story. IWantYourLove 1,084
Oh girl I had to blindly fumble for the tv remote to switch it OFF while hyperventilating because that opening scene gave me a panic attack and I haven’t been able to build up the courage to give it another chance since

I mean, Bullet Train and Once upon a Time were both pretty successful. But Brad hasn’t really been in blockbusters for 20 years so it’s not a fair measurement - really the only time he was in blockbusters was from about 2001 to 2005.

I can sympathise with this, as I feel the same, but I feel like we're in the minority. Some of my favourite films happen to be low-budget arthouse films or obscure musicals from long ago. Others are critically panned comedies from the early 2000s that are considered objectively trashy and bad. That is to say, I don't care about genre or labels. But am I everyone? Am I a 20-something-year-old superhero fan who expected and wanted Joker 2 to be a Dark Knight moment? Also no. And Joker 2 wasn't marketed towards me, it was marketed towards the latter, towards your typical audience. Maybe it's silly of me to paint everyone black like that, but I do think the majority of people who watched it and subsequently panned it are people who not only expected a different movie but were led to believe it was one.

Maybe Hollywood sabotaged it on purpose because of that? an easier way to do this would be to just not make it lol This was an official message from the Office of the First Lady.
