I am tired of your Promotion opinions.... a good Song doesn't need Promotion!

well yes, it does actually

if MR hadn't been performed at the superbowl, it wouldn't have skyrocketed up to number 4

mother, what must i do?

If DWAS was flopping, I'm sure little monsters would be cursing that song too. Just because you are not into that particular genre it doesn't mean that it is a bad song.

Gaga is in a position where releases what she wants and she's content with it regardless of it's commercial success. She also seems to be much satisfied with her personal life. She might have been happier if Disease performed better but she doesn't have to feel depressed about it's performance, she already has enough money for her livelihood and gets enough streams from her previous hits.

I remember one of the GGD users ranting that DWAS sounded like Hold my Hand 2.0 and it was going to flop. :patrizia:

Isn't the subject of this song or music too repetitive for her career? I don't know, I feel like she's repeating a message she already said over and over. Not exactly, but this thing of  "fighting your demons", "reconciliate with your darkness", "accepting the bad things as a part of you" is what she been saying in songs like "Bad romance", "Marry the Night", "Bad Kids", "911", "Replay", etc... I think Disease is good, but it really doesn't says anything new. Same as the music video.

I truly believe Gaga's always made music that's ahead of her time, which is not a bad thing. I have been a little monster since TFM, and I will always remember how much the GP did NOT like the Born this way album. Judas was literally termed a "flop" by everyone, including some of her fans. Over a decade later, Judas is about to become the most streamed song on Born This Way and one of her most streamed songs period. Bloody Mary, a very experimental non-single, has become one of her biggest hits in the streaming era.

I used to invest so much time on charts when I was younger, and it drained me so much. As I got older I realized that if I like a song, then why does it matter so much if it's a top ten hit??? Gaga has already proven countless times she is a multifaceted icon. Furthermore, she LITERALLY has one of the best selling songs of the year doing amazing on the charts as I type this now. She was just named the 5th best pop artist of all time this past week. She cemented herself as a music legend a long time ago. She has nothing left to prove.

It's clear that all she wants now is for her true fans to appreciate the art she releases. So I think we should all log off twitter and just enjoy the amazing music and visuals she has given us.

I think those songs are similarly themed, but they become their own pieces of art when you focus on the nuanced differences.

For me a really noticeable difference is in her spirit and the energy she puts behind it, and each era has its own distinct emotion attached to it. This new side of Gaga seems grounded and focused and primal and unafraid.

I hear Disease as the siren song of her inner demons and how that chaos is like a kink for her, and in the video I saw her finding the balance in all these dualities and fighting forces because when she can fully embrace all sides, it’s an untouchable euphoria. There’s a depth and maturity layered into the track that feels fresh to me.

By making art about her personal struggles, she makes a commentary about the human condition which many, if not all people, relate with if they think about it honestly.

This is one of the major reasons her music even as a pop artist, attracted me.  There is intelligence there that hard to find in an industry that is all about fantasy.

I disagree that the song is flopping. Flopping would be not even debuting in the streaming charts, the song is actually doing reasonably well.

You could argue that the release was rushed and a little crowded with DWAS, Joker and the Harlequin album, leaving little room for anticipation and too last minute to benefit from Halloween.

Now we're too close to Xmas to the point that the charts will be mostly dominated by festive music from now on until January.

But I still think it's an amazing song and strong single. In terms of promo, the only thing lacking at the moment is a Gaga-like TV performance (with an iconic dance choreography) and CDs/vynils. But, who knows, that might still come before the next single.

I think in the end the song will do well for 2024 standards, same numbers SL would do if it was released now.

I think Interscope is focused more on the album and making the overall era sustainable and successful in the end, you can tell they're planning a lot of things to make this one of her best eras (LG7 song rumoured to appear on Wednesday next year etc.).

People can't expect all her singles to do DWAS numbers, and when they don't, calling it a flop.

99% of pop songs don’t say anything “new”. All of them deal with love, breakups or struggling with yourself/feeling different/lonely or partying/feeling sexy/cunty. 😅 It really has little to no impact on a song’s chart success.

With DWAS still smashing, Gaga didn’t need another GP hit right now.  It would be more valuable for her to aim for that in January, closer to the album release.

Disease is giving the fans exactly what they have been asking for, and Die With a Smile is giving the charts exactly what they have been asking for. Two different assignments for two different goals.
