Nobody wants to do low skilled work because you get treated like **** and get crap pay....instead of doing the hard work to increase pay and living standards for all, they're just importing people who have lower standards and putting a plaster over the cracks that way. if you go in a coffee shop or a care home or whatever, 9 times out of 10 it's somebody who has immigrated. it feels a bit dystopian. i don't think it's beyond reason to infer a government would import cheaper labour instead of holding capitalism to a higher standard Availability is not weakness

That is 1/3 of what we took in annually the last 2 years So i dont buy that problem personally Well, yes, Ottawa prioritises highly skilled people, more than any other country in the world except perhaps Australia, while at the same time filling gaps in the labour market that the local population does not want to fill. They are then also considered "skilled", specialised in the niche they fill. They must/can have an employment contract, which can also be a warehouse job. Highly qualified jobs also harbour a risk, namely that you are restricted to a certain job sector that may become superfluous due to globalisation/outsourcing/AI, or for which there is too much competition. And these highly qualified people will generally not be satisfied with lower-level jobs. Also a low-paid job in 2028 may bring in less money effectively than in 2008 due to inflation. Such a person will have less money available and therefore rely on lowest-cost services which it can afford, which reinforces a low-paid sector. And this sector again is filled by newcomer migrants. Yet, the daugther/son will still expect to get a cheap café. The price problem is solved by newcomer migrants who then serve in the café. But actually it isn't solving anything, just delaying it. That's a lot of turning the other way and wilful blindness just to prop capitalism up. Here in the UK they spend billions each year on benefits for people who work full time but are on minimum wage and can't afford to live as a result. Capitalism pays people so poorly, even some who work full time, that the government instead of forcing them to pay people properly, is prepared to subsidize the business through welfare payments! It's ridiculous! If you can't afford to treat people properly, you can't afford to be in business Availability is not weakness

Capitalism pays people so poorly, even some who work full time, that the government instead of forcing them to pay people properly, is prepared to subsidize the business! It's ridiculous! as for the UK, its population density increases and it is now the third-most densest country in Europe among countries above 1 million inhabitants. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_and_population_of_European_countries Only Belgium and Netherlands are above, yet these are flat countries where you can live basically anywhere, while in the UK there are mountain ranges that limit where you can live. As a result, real estate prices will get higher and higher and people will have less money available which reinforces low-cost services. So newcomer migrants are used to temporarily solve the problem (actually delayed), but in the long-term the problems will only increase. I think the living standards of the 2000s were the peak and maybe will be considered a golden time in a more distant future.
