Students Spend $40K To Stay In Canada, Feel Betrayed As They Are Now Sent Back

I mean the system was being severely abused by them but it's the governments fault for letting it happen. Hundreds of thousands of students are coming here to do quick 1-2 year programs they are not even interested in as a way of getting permanent residence. 

The result is having low skilled workers doing jobs anybody can do while the country still lacks skilled labourers.  All of this is a result of greedy governments wanting to make bank on student tuitions.

Barrie and Balm Beach is probably the closest I ever been to Orilia

 

I may have also passed near it when going to Minden in cottage Country but I forget exactly where in the map Minden is

I mean both the Government and the people have a hand in it. Everyone is going after what they think is their best interests. Cant blame either side tbh for wanting whats best for them

 

But the Government was stupid in not foreseeing unintended consequences and that it wouldnt in the end really attract the people they think they are.

 

I do live in Brampton which is literally the Indian and student Capital of this entire thing. And I can anecdotally say 70% to 80% of people who came to Canada via student visa did not end up sticking to what they came to study for or even tried to find work in the field

 

Sometimes it can be lack of oppurtunity in ur field but some seem like they are not even really trying and settle for a warehouse job

It looks like a really pretty place. My friend is part of an indigenous community there, all his family's cultural traditions and such are really interesting and honestly sweet

Thisss. I have a few friends who were international students and def tried to stay longer than they were allowed to.

Selfishly I’m glad they stayed, but again it’s the government’s fault for not securing enough housing for all, while also letting in too many people. 

This isn’t the only slice of the problem pie (landlords are a big issue too) but a big part of it

I mean yeah, I'm as pro-immigration as they come but it's insane that they've let anyone with papers from a strip mall college get PR all these years. Literally no other country in the world would allow that.

The ire seems to be pointed at people abusing it so if you're genuinely going for a proper education to become a skilled worker then you're good

There is this idea that Canada wants to have low-paid jobs done by immigrants. This actually only works in the short and medium term because the first generation of immigrants do these jobs, but those who have grown up in Canada from a very young age (second generation+) have higher expectations and no longer want to be on the same low level as newcomer migrants.  And even some of the newcomer migrants already adopt that kind of attitude in advance. As they themselves increase the population, the demand for low-paid jobs increases proportionally, but the population that wants to do them only grows proportionally if there is a permanent high influx of new migrants, which then leads to the problems you described (lack of houses, higher prices, etc.).

Thats an unproven idea based on speculation the Government is lying about wanting skilled migrants tho

 

Besides even if that theory is true... as long as the percentage of immigrangs relative to population remains stable, it does not matter if 2nd generation immigrants moves on 

 

Even going back down to more realistic levels of 0.8% to 1% annual immigrants to population before pandemic and this surge in international students 2021 onwards, that is plenty of fresh immigrants still. 400,000 would grow us 1%. That is 1/3 of what we took in annually the last 2 years

 

So i dont buy that problem personally
