LateToCult 42,098
I high key love how much data is made available to the public via our government. Did y’all know the USGS has a boat load of detailed shake intensity maps for plausible earthquakes in the country? The west coast has far more material (for obvious reasons) but there are also maps of the New Madrid fault line. If you’re feeling curious this weekend it’s something you can sift through if you live in an area prone to earthquakes. Here are some screen shots of a few of the maps I found interesting: 9.0 Cascadia Subduction Zone: 7.3 Hayward - Rodger’s Creek: 7.2 Newport - Inglewood: Many, many more can be found here: https://www.usgs.gov/tools/earthquake-scenarios The screenshots are pretty low quality but the site allows you to zoom in pretty close for a detailed view.
