Joe Biden withdraws from presidential election

I feel like this is a mistake, people don't like change, this is why the sitting president usually always wins a second term

I'm just worried people (democrats) will feel this being chaotic and will make them not vote

I hope Biden will use part of his remaining time putting some safety so that the project 2025 can not fully be implemented

I'm so stressed about this :fatcat:

This is a real thing to consider I fear

Let's pray this is not true but tbh I also have lowkey anxiety that this may be an issue. It may sound ludicrous but that is the reason why I feel like Gretchen Whithmer would have had a better chance at winning the election. Yes, she is an unknown, but I feel like that could have been the much needed new chapter of politics because she is a new face. And she embodies many characters that could speak to the most voters especially in Swing States.

She's white, she's from a Swing State herself, she's not from California (unpopular state for many undecided voters) and she's very popular in her state. She's young compared to Trump, and she's hot to hetero men. (Which is a factor also not to overlook.) And she has been also a victim by political violence with the kidnapping attempt.

Because this is a big deal and it can go south real quickly. Trump is only 3 years younger and nobody has an issue with his age. Trump is mentally unstable and nobody has an issue. It's maddening.

Theoretically Biden only needed to make it to November.

To put it another way though, Biden was 1 year younger in 2020 than Trump right now. And it wasn't mentioned nearly as much by Democrats. Things have changed and Biden's mental ability has changed.

Except Biden hasn't been diagnosed or anything. We are going on feeling, not facts. Again, IF he had a chance to even win he'd only have to survive until November.

What is being done now is a gamble which I hope works, but we are tossing the incumbency and only have 3 months to build momentum.

I pray we are successful.

What momentum has to be rebuilt? People generally weren't actively excited to vote for Biden.

When changing a candidate you naturally have to rebuild momentum. Although if it is Harris, it will be way easier as she was already on the ticket.

Kamala had the easiest transition route. She was already on the ticket so you can make a case for her. Everyone that voted for Biden in the primary knew there was a real possibility Kamala could have to step in at any moment because of Joe’s advanced age. She also has access to Joe’s massive war chest. The only tangible outcomes were Joe staying or Kamala stepping up. Plus skipping over Kamala would cause tension with Black voters. White woman also skipped over Hillary so I wouldn’t put my eggs in that basket anyway.

Biden is clearly suffering from Parkinson’s. A mental disorder that only worsens

They will NEVER diagnose it, but the symptoms are clearer than a sassy closeted twink in a glass closet

First of all, Parkinson is NOT a mental health disorder. It’s degenerative neurological disease. Neurologists take care of patients with it, not psychiatrists.

Second of all, basic Parkinson symptoms are tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity and postural instability. If it’s so clear to you that he has it, can I ask you how you can diagnose someone without an examination and medical interview?

Third of all, Parkinson specialists were at the WH, because Biden passed special legislation on this disease. I’m not American and even I know it because it was all over his instagram :rip:

The 77 Democratic National Committee delegates from Tennessee unanimously voted to endorse Kamala Harris for president during a conference call Sunday afternoon, according to William Owen, a Democratic National Committee member who participated in the call. Owen said the vote makes Tennessee the first state delegation in the country to formally back Harris for president.

Fine, have your technicality. Never said psychiatrists deal with it, I know they dont. My point was that it’s not something you can obscure like having your leg get amputated.

Second, he’s visibly rigid and having postural instability. So many people who’ve seen him irl and him in vids have corroborated it - they’re just not going to call that parkinson’s. Obviously there’s more tests you can do to confirm that -  but if he refuses to do cognitive tests, obv he’ll refuse to do those and have them on the record.

I also saw that. KJP said otherwise. She said that specialist was there to run a hospital and check on military veterans (which doesn’t make sense as the military would usually just discharge people who’d need to see that). Why there’d be so many visits from him instead of just… idk, Zoom calls or chats? That legislation point is the weakest one I’ve heard

Trump was questioned about his previous political contributions to Democrats while on the campaign trail. During a June 2015 interview, Trump was asked why he donated to the Clinton Foundation and prominent Democrats, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.), and Obama White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

Trump replied, “It’s smart. It’s called being an intelligent person and a great business person. ... But the truth is that, you have to be able to get along with—if you’re gonna be a business person, even in the United States, you wanna get along with all sides because you’re gonna need things from everybody. And you wanna get along with all sides, it’s very important.” -- https://ballotpedia.org/History_of_Donald_Trump's_political_donations
