ItsCaseyPaul 1,316 Posted April 29 Share Posted April 29 The Lion King (1994) is my third favorite movie of all time (behind Titanic and Avatar). When the remake was announced, I was somewhat skeptical that they'd be able to capture the magic of the original. The remake was not terrible. It wasn't nearly as good as the original, but when I stepped into the theater I went in with zero expectations as if I was watching an original, new movie. Of course that was difficult when a lot of the script was exactly the same, but nevertheless, I think it was a decent remake. Watching this, I feel the same way. The 5 year old kid in me is excited to experience a new Lion King story with new cutting edge graphics and visuals. But the 33 year old in me (god I feel ancient even mentioning my age) feels extremely uneasy that this may be the first film in the Lion King saga that will be hated by many, including myself. I am excited for new original music by Lin Manuel and Beyonce though. I just hope he captures the magic of Hans Zimmer, Tim Rice and Elton John. I dunno.
