The CFO of Canadas largest bank (RBC - Royal Bank Of Canada) valued at over $200B has been fired for having an undisclosed relationship with employee that broke company code of conduct

 

Investigation found she approved generous raises and promotions to employee and showed clear preferential treatment.

I know this is not major news but I love myself a mini scandal

 

I also did not know the CFO for Canadas largest Corporation was a woman. Slay considering Canada has one of the worst gender equality in the developed world in high Corporate roles

I think it also depends on company policy.

 

I work in a multi billion company as well called Mainfrieght (tho still much smaller than RBC) and they do not care if you work with family or partners.

 

My branch manager has her husband work there and its open and known.

 

Tho i dunno if in RBCs case their policy doesnt allow it or not. It may simply be the facf that it was undisclosed and she showed preferential treatment. Maybe if it was disclosed and unbiased it would not have been an issue

Who knows if she was a creep or not tho. We dont know how this relationship started or if power dynamics played any role in starting the relationship or not

This is true. Maybe she is a vulnerable person who held a position of power, and she made a mistake... and then let it get carried away.

But its the kind of mistake that you rightfully pay for. Such a shame for both the woman and the man involved. But I imagine their colleagues feel justice was served lol

Maybe. But i wasnt saying vulnerable necessairily. I meant more along the lines in the context of being creepy or using power to pressure someone into relationship etc

 

I just meant we dont really have those details. It could have been very mutual and full of consent on both sides.

 

But creep or not, doesnt justify the corruption

I 100% assumed (and hoped) consent was involved. But yes, the corruption is the main takeaway.

Hopefully, if nothing else, this woman's experience will be a learning lesson for other people 🖤
