I like the song. I like all released. But the music videos this album are not really worth more than one view. Kinda disappointed in that. FN music videos had me gagged. She needs Canada studio.

I actually liked this video. I think it's my favorite out of the 3 she has released so far.

The song sounds good!

Don't get me wrong, I really like Dua and I think she has a beautiful voice and is very talented. I think that what's happening is that the time comes when producing bops is not enough for a popstar. She's releasing her third album and I don't know who she is. Her songs are always about the same thing, I don't see her openning up on her songs.

It's like what happened to Katy Perry back on 2015, The public gets bored of all the songs being about the same topics and move on to the new popstar.

That's what I admire from Gaga, she never wanted to be the bops popstar, she wanted to be true to herself and to be authentic.

I hope Dua sees this and does something different for her next album, or that there are more personal songs on the album that we haven't heard yet.

Damn this era really is a disappointment. Third single and it isn't sticking at all, her management got too cocky saying Dua was gonna be the biggest pop star in the world. The album is gonna be a flop.

Cute song but Houdini and Training Season are better than Illusion and that's not saying much. Still excited to hear the album from start to finish, I hope the singles flow better with the rest of them. As for the music videos, I've only watched them once lol.

Future Nostalgia was great because it brought dance pop & disco back into the mainstream. Everyone had so much fun with it that we all ignored how generic and impersonal she can be as an artist. Now, 4 years later, she’s making the same type of music except our appetite for dance pop from her has diminished, and it’s become more obvious that she doesn’t have an interesting POV in her music.
 

In the Illusion video, you can literally replace her with any random popstar of the last 20 years. What is her brand? Her lyrics can be random and generic (going Houdini?) yet also difficult to relate to. The GP cannot relate enough to these new songs. 
 

On top of all of that, her fans expected experimental psychedelic pop and she isnt delivering. So this record isn’t really pleasing fans or the GP.

I think the problem with a lot of you people is that think dance pop music is just bops. That’s wrong/incorrect. 
Ariana Grande been doing the same kind of music sonically and lyrically all her 6-7 albums but no one seems to bat an eye. 
 

Make me think if this is a treatment ironically given to non American singers. Hmm.

Giving me strong Kylie vibes. I like it, not sure if I like it more than the previous 2 but overall it’s shaping up to be a quality, fun dance/pop album.

Most artists to the same type of music (Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey).

Ariana always been doing trap/r&b influenced music about her boyfriends. What is it that with Dua people want something completely different? 
 

So far RO sounds different and more mature than FN. it’s still dance music. Clearly. Production wise is way better. There’s new elements to it. But still Dance pop. 
 

I feel Americans have a problem with dance pop music. Lol

The well is drying. Houdini remains my favorite single. The simple rhymes in this one feel so redundant. And there's nothing especially catchy about the hook.

I think it’s less about the singer and more the listener. Americans go through their fair share of one hit wonders and I would say a lot of them are dance pop. There are lots of factors to it but a big one is that dancing (literally over decades) keeps getting less and less important to American socialization specifically. Parents used to go out with their friends and go to dinners and the discos after. My grandparents never really stopped going out until one of them passed. It was an important part of their way of life for their gen. My parents however never went out dancing once they had me so there was a clear difference. Is this genre enjoyed more in a social setting rather than choosing to play it in on your morning commute? Probably. So now a whole bunch of people are interacting with it in way it wasn’t really meant for- by themselves alone. 
 

I also think a lot of people here (USA) are conditioned to see dance as a phase for an artist. Either as their entry or a sound for an album, not a genre like R&B, folk, or rock. 
 

Because Ariana primarily gets her influences from R&B, it is way more palatable to the average American because it’s what they are used to listening to. It’s tricky too because if either Dua or Ariana chose to drastically change their sound then they risk alienating a good portion of who actually listens to them.

I’m sorry but I think this is in a completely different league than Houdini & TS. The video was also incredible (then again TS was one of the most boring pop videos I’ve ever see ). The hook is infection

it’s not just changing the sound but I noticed Americans just can’t stand anyone releasing dance music all the time but there’s literally nothing wrong with that. 
 

Gaga is probably the only one who drastically changes with each album. Everyone else sticks to “their” sound or try to be edgy and it comes off cringy.
