Honestly it’s so embarrassing being a Gaga fan now, we get literally nothing. I think it’s time to take a step back. My energy needs to be put to better use. If this isn’t a sign of that idk what is. Good luck Beyoncé , ate as usual.

oh and if Beyoncé releases a rock album RIP Gaga’s rock era. Nobody and I mean nobody will care but us.

Apparently the whole point of the Three Acts project is that with each act she will RECLAIM a music genre that was created by black people and “stolen”/“taken” by white culture.

act 1: house/dance

act 2: country

act 3: rock

this was always the rumour, and by announcing act 2 as a country album she’s basically confirming the theory

Oh i get it thanks for explaining

imma cut a bitch

house is dance music?

They're saying Renaissance (act i I guess?) wasn't just house music but dance music in general, which is true. You had other dance genres present on the album, most notably disco.

I've been wanting to get into her discography for a while and this will be the 1st album from her I'll listen to. Not a big fan of country music but I'm so curious because Beyonce doing country is crazy lol

It is! But it’s a subgenre is my point. People keep thinking Renaissance was just house and it was really not. It was a pretty broad exploration of Black dance music hence why there was disco, Miami bass, New Jersey style, Chicago house, funk, bounce, hip hop, afro beats, etc. So to reduce Renaissance to being the house album is missing the scope of what the album was doing.

I wonder if she’ll tour for each act

Highly doubt it, honestly. Tours of her magnitude are expensive and exhausting. Even if she waits a year to tour Act II, that’s tiring on her personally. Plus, we know she’s bringing Renaissance to Brazil this year

Thank you, yeah. I think you miss the scope of Renaissance to just say house. And I have a hunch it’ll be a similar thing for the other two acts exploring the many sub genres beneath country and rock, especially as it pertains to Black contributions. Admittedly, I’m not as familiar with country’s, but with rock you’ve got gospel, blues, even RnB in some ways. And I’m sure there’s more. Basically, it’s not just reclaiming a genre by doing the motions of a genre album, it’s reclaiming it by platforming all the contributions Black folk have made to each genre and I think that’s a nuance being lost a bit. She’s doing a lot of history work on these it seems and it’s not just for kicks, it’s integral to the intention of the project.

There goes another Grammy snatched from Lana next year. :yennefer:

Lana didn't stand a chance in Country categories anyway. this is not a popularity contest. country music committee always tries to honor country artists. they rejected Beyonce's “Daddy Lessons” in 2016.

That makes sense. Yeah I was not counting on Lana winning a Country category, those are pretty strong every year.

I'm going to assume if the Vegas residency rumor is true that she's going to use that gig to promote all three acts instead of having three separate world tours.
