Wet Fire 6,714
No Lily Gladstone in Best Actress I liked Margot's performance but there's no way she was better than Lily.

He was literally one of the main characters it's a common thing to do that so they won't have to campaign for 2 leading actors at the same time, it may reduce the chances to win for both, especially for Margot, if you check the supporting category of previous years, you will see a lot of leading actors there. Barbie and Mario were snubbed badly His fart felt like a kiss

Barbie and Mario were snubbed badly Thanks for the explanation. By the way, Mario deserves to be snubbed. Its a cute movie but nothing extraordinary. I also have a personal vendetta against it because my disgusting nephews watch it all the damn time trolly troll troll

MelbHawker 6,583
The Lily Gladstone snub is probably the worst awards snub of this year.
Bronco 6,788
If the nominations are anything to go by from the Baftas, I'm expecting Barbie is not going to do well at the Oscars. Kind of expecting Barry Keoghan to get the Lead Actor Bafta purely so we can continue our tactic of trying to pretend Irish acting talent is British. BAFTA only got 5 slots for best picture, Oscars got 10... it will easily make it into the latter!
nodandsmile 9,817
they just do whatever the hell they feel like doing, not trying to predict the oscars or anything lol, makes things interesting unlike critics choice...

Ah yeah that's how I always thought it was going to be as well lots of noms but only win competitive in song, costume and production design (that's what it deserves imo!) StrawberryBlond 14,198
Barbie getting acting noms but nothing in best director and movie is bizarre. If anything, it should be the opposite. The acting's good for the kinda movie it is, but not by general movie standards. But the movie itself and the direction is good, so I'm a bit confused. Kind of expecting Barry Keoghan to get the Lead Actor Bafta purely so we can continue our tactic of trying to pretend Irish acting talent is British. Remember what happened at the 2022 ceremony, though? The BAFTAs opinion on best actress noms were 100% different to the Oscars for the first time ever. Gaga got nominated for HOG along with Alana Haim, Emilia Jones, Renate Reinsve and Tessa Thompson. We were all shook because it's widely understood that you can't get an Oscar nom without a BAFTA nom so we thought the entire race had changed for who was predicted to be nominated for Oscars. But in the end, the Oscars nominations came through totally different and just stuck to the names that had been prevalent all awards season: Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Nicole Kidman, Kristen Stewart and one outsider, Penelope Cruz. We learned in this moment that previous ceremonies are no indication of how the Oscars preferences will be, nor do they collaborate to decide to make the nominations/wins similar. After all, one is a British ceremony and the other is American. Opinions can be like chalk and cheese when it comes to art appreciation in these countries.
