How are y'all Gaga stans though...her entire career since Just Dance is rooted in retro music? The Grace Jones couture and late 70's/early 80s electropop were not for nothing...

Well, they were retro with a huge part of futuristic sounds

I mean...yes technically...but a large part of the appeal at the time, at least from older listeners and critics, was that gaga's work centered around sound and imagery that was devoid from US pop culture for over a decade. The "retro" elements to her music and fashion are what brought a lot of her attention and acclaim.

I get what you're saying about lazy efforts to just regurgitate sounds that were successful in the past, but I think it's tiptoeing a very fine line of criticism. Especially as a fan of Lady Gaga lol

Houdini has really grown on me and the extended version is even better with those extra lyrics really taking it above average, so naturally, my vote's for the song that isn't about being unrepentant regarding cheating on your husband and breaking up another man's marriage and family. Yes, And? is such a strange song, it just falls flat, even without the smug lyrics and doesn't feel big enough for a comeback song yet it looks like it will be another hit for Ariana. It's odd, as I thought Dua's power was bigger than Ariana's right now, especially coming fresh off the back of Dance The Night, meaning she ordinarily would've had a massive lead hit automatically, but the public weirdly hasn't vibed with it. Yet, it seems more mainstream and accessible than Yes, And? I don't get the public sometimes.
