hELXIG 41,585
It's just the overconfidence before anything has dropped tbh. We have seen so many artists absolutely rave about their upcoming work, only for it to finally drop and everyone is left disappointed. If you build it up that high you're almost challenging people to be sceptical right from the get go. They say "greatest comeback of all time" or "y'all aren't even ready" and everyone's knee-jerk reaction is to go "yeah right.. we'll see..". Instant cynicism. Then if the song is actually great, the original sceptics will stick to their guns and say they hate it anyway and refuse to like it. And if it isn't actually that great, then the both believers and sceptics will all hate it and act hateful online. There's no positive outcome to overhypying songs/eras. It's just not smart I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It still comes off inauthentic. He's just trying to be controversial. Depeche Mode is an example of tons of religious imagery, lyrics about religion without throwing it in your face.
Roughhouse Dandy 8,397
It's like some of y'all think you'll spontaneously combust if you stop being a hater. Can we please root for the one successful black gay popstar we have these days? MelbHawker 6,583
I don’t like it when *current* artists refer to a new release as a ‘comeback’

They pull no punches in trying to rule other peoples' lives and fully fûck with them. They can stand to be ridiculed.

So they can slander us for being gay in the name of their religion, but we can't return fire? Queerness is basically being Anita Bryant-ed again. Let the out gay black pop star fúck with them as hard as he can.
