It's has pretty much died out and isn't really worn for cermonies or holiday festivities either. I do love the intricate lace headress or 'knipmuts'. In my little town there's a specific knitted pattern, originally gloves, but these days also hats, scarves and sweaters. It's really tricky to knit so not many people don't know how. This is the east of the Netherlands by the way.
