She was successful in her FN era, but to caliber her impact just ask around. I did and only a friend knew about her :zilla:

While if you ask about Gaga, Madonna or even Katy, most of GP know about them 🤷

U must be from the US or need to go outside more

Some songs don’t deserve major success, as they aren’t quite up to par in the pop sphere. Just like quite a few of Gagas songs since 2012/2013. This song is one of them.

what the ****

Has she done any live performances on talk shows or any other promo yet ? What is it these days with artists barely promoting there music, back in the day the song would’ve been performed at least 5 times within the week of release.

This has just reminded me that when LG7 era starts, this site will be filled with comments about how the label isn’t promoting the lead single or adding to playlists etc. like every other era :bradley:

It's almost like we're looping back to the 80s, but minus the guaranteed success. Madonna didn't do a single televised performance in 1986 for True Blue but she still experienced colossal success. It wasn't until 1987 that televised performances happened, and that was only for the tour.

The thing is these days even with promo there isn’t guaranteed success ! Which maybe is the reason why we don’t see a lot of promo anymore ? There have been countless times in recent years where artists have promoted there album to the fullest and still haven’t debuted at #1. I was looking not long back, considering Chromatica didn’t have a lot of promo it still did very well, was in the top 50 in the UK & US end of year ! Same thing with Renaissance, but both albums could’ve reached there full potential if promoted properly.

In terms of Gaga, Joanne had lots of promo with countless performances and a sell out tour but Chromatica had 1 live performance and a tour 2 years later and still did better. So I guess it’s just a case of which sort of sound she wants to go for, as long as it’s not TikTok music I’ll be happy.

No one watches TV, especially her target demographic, social media and TikTok is the new SNL/Jimmy Fallon etc

they'll probably start promoting hard once those Christmas songs slow down... wouldn't sweat it, she got a great team who got a goal to achieve!

Live performances don't have to be just tv though :duck:

Anyways, the lack of live performances and whatnot is nothing new; labels have found digital promotion to be much cheaper than traditional measures, which is why we see less and less of it. A shame imo, because it makes music feel less and less of an event each year.

At this point we are still blaming promo if a song is not a success? Of course that helps but if the song does not connect with people (cough cough), look for another excuse :trollga:
