Taylor has sales and that's it. When artists like Ed Sheeran, Morgan Wallen or even BTS do crazy numbers we think it's weird and we don't get the appeal. This is the same thing, and that's what you guys don't understand. You expect us to conflate sales with quality/impact/legendary status but the math ain't mathing because nothing about Taylor justifies that. She is succeeding because her music is a bland commodity easily digested by and appealing to the lowest common denominator, because she has an artificially high prolificacy thanks to the re-releases and because she has succeeded in creating a highly engaged teenage girl incel fanbase. Not because she is "the best," and not because she is extraordinary in any way. She is never touching the Beatles, MJ, Madonna or any real legend, and no one will ever think of her that way. But enjoy her numbers. And preferably, enjoy them in a Taylor Charts thread so you all can circle j*rk in there without the rest of us needing to see it. lol she’s currently on what is going to be the highest grossing tour of all time with no other tour even coming close. and as someone who saw the tour live four times, i can tell you it’s the most impressive concert i’ve ever been to!! and i’ve seen gaga live 10 times. i’ve seen beyonce. i’ve seen many others. the eras tour is just unlike any concert i’ve ever been to. oh and did i mention the movie of it is breaking records too?? taylor, like all the other women we stan, is a legend and deservedly so. you can stay pressed though!! The eras tour was so good, the only thing I didn't like is I could only get nosebleeds behind the stage so I couldnt see the main screen I've been to so many tours in the past few years including floor tickets for TCB and the Renaissance tour and despite both of them being absolutely amazing, neither of them came close to the energy of the eras tour. Hoping to get good tickets for later next year

Hoping to get good tickets for later next year exactly. i actually think the fact that taylor isn’t as strong of vocalist or dancer as gaga or bey only made me more impressed at how good the show is?? her stage presence on this tour is out of this world (especially as the tour has gone on), and the attention to detail is stunning. so much care and effort was put into every little thing. everything looked so expensive and thought out. my first show started at 8 and ended right at 11:45, and i was blown away by her stamina and ability to shift from genre to genre to genre, all while feeling so personal. the whole thing felt somehow like the biggest spectacle i’ve ever seen and yet so intimate at the same time. also i would do anything for other pop stars to do a surprise song section. it’s just soooo fun. imagine if gaga suddenly broke out into ARTPOP on the piano…..i would lose my damn mind
StrawberryBlond 14,202
It was obvious this was going to be her most successful re-release as it was her most successful album. But the sheer volume of sales was beyond my wildest comprehension. It still never ceases to amaze me that people will pay top dollar to re-buy something they already own. Including pricey vinyl. In multiple different covers. Yes, I know music collecting is a thing. Yes, I know her fans want to support their fave. But even I would find it very hard to re-buy any of Gaga's albums if she re-released them, even if they contained new songs. In this day and age, I thought many would want to save their money and just stream the new tracks. I'm not a massive critic of capitalism but I'd feel like I'd be buying into it in a really uncomfortable way. It's just weird to think we have a cost of living crisis and yet 1 million+ fans have just bought multiple variants of a Taylor Swift album they already have. What's even weirder is them acting like the whole album is brand new and discussing their favourite songs from it (and not just the 3 new ones). I'd understand if they were kids and teens but most of her fans are in their 20's and 30's, well past the age of getting swept up in music hysteria. It's all just a bit...strange. I have seen Eras and Renaissance, both were good but Beyonce blows Taylor out of the water in every regard. Better looking stage, better outfits, better stage presence and a much more cohesive and well paced show. Especially since these two women have very different audience and art styles. What's "better" for you might not be the case for someone else. And it will end up running in circles again. Some people like one artist or their show better than the other, and some other might even enjoyed both equally for different reasons. One thing for sure is that Yoncè is a bit more limited or segmented in her reach. As such Yoncè rarely do stops in some part of the world. (i.e.: Japan, South Korea, the whole South East Asia, etc), even in USA, her home country alone, there are stark gap on gross earnings between between her and Taylor, who were able to hold more dates in one city, whereas Beyonce had to cancel one of hers for poor sales, hence Taylor holds the #1 best selling title of tours right now. Some doesn't get Yoncé as much as they did Taylor, who is way more accessible in all regards, not that it's a bad thing. Nevertheless, can't most people just stream the new ones? She's still getting the money, albeit not as much, but so many are streaming, that she'll still make a mint. I know they want her re-recordings to be the ones consumed and played now so she gets all the money but her fans act like she needs people to buy (not just stream) her re-recordings. She's sold millions of albums and singles, is currently on the biggest selling tour of all time and owns multiple homes. She won't be on the streets if people don't re-buy her re-recordings. The sheer demand for physical copies in the digital age is what I really can't understand. At the rate she puts out albums new and old, the amount of space these vinyls (including variants) are going to take up in a fan's music collections along with other artists, is going to be immense. Don't know if her hardcore fans have a future plan for this if she keeps going for decades.
