She’s a 77 year old white woman from Tennessee.  Yes she’s done a lot of good, but this isn’t super surprising.

You are judging people based on age and where they are born in!

Clearly Dolly is someone who rebelled and spoke out against her conservative religious Bubble, and did the right thing her whole life, so for you to just dismiss her as an old boomer from Tennessee is bad

The woman still uses a fax machine to communicate; I highly doubt she knows what Kid Rock has been up to.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

ultimately i know dolly doesnt support his views much like gaga doesnt support r kelly being an abuser and a pedophile. i'm very confident that dolly doesnt agree with his transphobia.

what we're not gonna do is cancel someone who has done unimaginable good for the world in terms of lgbt rights, childrens literacy and education, scholarships, health (covid vaccines, cancer research, childrens hospitals), natural disasters (tennessee wildfires), etc. thats just to name a few.

she likely had very little choice in this collab. we know labels have a massive input in collaborations between artists and are usually the sole reason they happen in the first place.

dolly is a good person and not hateful, transphobic, or homophobic. let her be

The fact that Kid Rock still even has a career to be doing collabs like this is what astounds me the most.

So many artists from the late 90s/early 00s that deserve to still be in the spotlight and this is the trash people chose to pay attention to lol

Parton invoked her faith in the interview as the reason why she doesn’t like cancel culture. “I think that’s terrible,” she said of cancel culture.
“We all make mistakes. We don’t all get caught at it. But also when somebody makes a mistake, it depends on who they are. That’s what God is there for.
“Now I happen to believe in God; I’m a faith-based person, so therefore I am able to see it like that,” she said. “A lot of people don’t, but even still, everybody deserves a second chance. You deserve to be innocent until you’re proven guilty. Even when you’re proven guilty, if God can forgive you, so can I. If God can forgive you, we all should forgive one another.

Not the best take on her end. I might suggest we look at it from the paradox of tolerance by Karl Popper: we cannot tolerate that which is intolerable. Kid Rock is an asshole and has horrible views. Cannot tolerate it in the way she’s quoted above.

The ageism in this thread isn't cute.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad take to account for the fact she was raised in the 50's/60's. I think we can all agree that society's way of raising children has changed. Not just on a technological standpoint but at it's core. We weren't raised the same way she was and it might explain why her view is different from ours.
