  1. 1. Music in 2023:

    • Baby, 2023 has me eating good.
    • Just a few highlights here and there.
    • Underwhelmed. Gaga will have to surprise drop LG7 to save this year.

Now that we're in Q4 of 2023, reflections are in order. Do you think it's been a good year for music- even when there's still new releases on the horizon (1989 Taylor's Version)? What are your top albums/singles so far?

The year was.. forgettable I would say.. except for some hits here and there that didn't leave the charts because there was a lack of competition.

That! Feels Good! by Jessie Ware is the biggest highlight for me. Other than that a few artists released some great songs, like Kylie, Troye and of course SSOH. Some more niche releases I enjoyed are K.Flay and Babymetal.

Not too much blew me away, so I'd say it was "just" decent.

For me it's been an amazing year because I got fresh albums from Paramore, Melanie Martinez and Ashnikko. Literally if Gaga dropped it would've been my perfect year

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Magic Mike

Lana, Romy, Caroline Polachek, Oneohtrix, James Blake, Tinashe, Adanna Duru, Burial, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Fred Again/Brian Eno saved the year for me. Even if I passed it obsessed with SZA tbf :ladyhaha: - I heard that deluxe version of sos is coming out very soon, so 2023 is sza year to me

personally, i think this year has been really good, i mean, it hasn't been hit after hit (like 2020 :enigma:) but there have been some great projects thanks to artists like Kali Uchis, Jessie Ware, Troye, Kylie, Kesha, Doja, Miley, Olivia and the "Barbie" movie songs :vegas:

plus: Bey and Taylor ruled 2023 (if we talk about tours)

Ultimecia

I'm the kind of person that does not listen to a lot of a different albums, and prefers listening to the same stuff over and over again. I'm also pretty much detached from mainstream culture, so I can't really speak on that.

What I got out of 2023 :

Salvia - 001011 (Top 10 favorite album of all time)
RedVox - Afterthoughts
Ashnikko - WEEDKILLER

The Rolling Stones - Sweet Sounds of Heaven ("Angry" is also a slay, so I will have to listen to the whole album)
Lana del Rey - Did You Know [...] (Great overall but did not listen to it a lot)
Poppy - Zig (Not out yet, but the singles have been fantastic so far)
Go_A - Русалочки
Inoe noet - Ч² (A great EP from a small artist I stumbled upon)
Elisei - Зубы (An hypnotic single from a small artist I discovered last year)

So I'd say this was a great year for me individually.

Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...

Raye's debut album 'My 21st Century Blues'. Go listen if you haven't, she's insanely talented and is gonna get Grammy nominations for sure.
