'free palestine' has been arguably the most commonly repeated political slogan of the past twenty years. israel is surrounded on all sides by countries that support palestine. there have been literal all-out wars between israel and its neighbours over palestine. the entire islamic world supports palestine. to say that nobody blinks an eye at the suffering of palestinians is just factually incorrect. The victim blaming We can condemn Hamas terrorist actions, but at the same time looking at the bigger picture on why this all happened. I also criticize Malcolm X for supporting Black national terrorism, but im also capable of seeing the bigger picture of why this happened (slavery and race segregation) Most of the 30 page comments on both sides of this political issue were good faith and logical about this, its just some users that are acting weird. Ayesha Erotica 1,924
1 hour ago, Meat said: There’s a reason why they are extremely small minorities. Look at what happened to Buddhists in Afghanistan, what happened to Parsis in Iran and so on. Indeed. There is no freedom of religion, no choice of personal beliefs in these countries, there is de facto enforced mandatory state religion for all. Many Jewish kids in Europe are beaten inside their schools or schoolyard because they are a minority and outnumbered and they are surrounded by people with radical beliefs who unload their anger about the long Israel-Palestine conflict on these kids and it surely isn't easy for these kids to attend schools these days. There used to be significant religious minorities up until the early and middle 20th century in the Middle East and Eurasia border area. They were mostly eradicated by Muslims who imposed with force their beliefs. And afterwards, when they were 99% Muslims, some of these countries declared religious freedom by law to look good on paper for the international community and some of the naïve people in the West believe there are no problems with religion there and that people voluntarily choose their religion there, referring to their (de facto meaningless) laws. This is from wikipedia: "Christianity in Turkey has a long history dating back to the early origins of Christianity in Asia Minor during the 1st century AD. In modern times the percentage of Christians in Turkey has declined from 20 to 25 percent in 1914 to 3–5.5 percent in 1927, to 0.3–0.4%,[3][4] roughly translating to 200,000–320,000 devotees.[5] The percentage of Christians in Turkey fell mainly as a result of the late Ottoman genocides:[10] the Armenian genocide, Greek genocide, and Assyrian genocide,[14] the population exchange between Greece and Turkey,[8][15] the emigration of Christians that began in the late 19th century and gained pace in the first quarter of the 20th century,[8][16] and due to events such as the 1942 Varlık Vergisi tax levied on Non-Muslim citizens in Turkey and the 1955 Istanbul pogrom against Greek and Armenian Christians.[8] Exact numbers are difficult to estimate as many former Muslim converts to Christianity often hide their Christian faith for fear of familial pressure, religious discrimination, and persecution.[17]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_Turkey And afterwards, no compensation was ever given despite being promised. Do you think, Meat, they would introduce something like Varlik Vergisi ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varlık_Vergisi ) if Palestine became sovereign or resort to harder measures or something else? In my opinion, the world community should find a solution that ensures diversity, freedom of the choice of personal life styles in the concerned territories. Saying that modern people of contemporary times have to life by the customs of people who lived there decades ago is in my opinion a philosophical argument with flaws b/c the people were not free to choose their personal beliefs decades ago to begin with. Historic one-time mass conformity shouldn't serve as a legal basis to justify long-time mass conformity, when people cannot change and have always to follow the same traditions again and again. Priniciples of constitutionality; equality of genders, races; access to universal knowledge through libraries and the Internet; freedom of religious choices and freedom of whom you marry and whether you marry at all or not; having kids as a free choice; free elections; having several parties and politicians not arrested or initimitated; free journalism; free media productions are important principles that serve the individual person and individual justice and this is important, and this is Israel doing better than a hypothetical independent Palestine. I'd wager that the gambit is this: Put this statement out calling for a truce knowing that Israel will reject it outright, meaning in the days and violence to come they have a propaganda tool of "we offered a truce". If by some insane scenario Bibi actually agreed though, we all know his government coalition would collapse and cause domestic political chaos. So in either situation Hamas get a propaganda win.
