The Israel Defense Forces says it is mobilizing soldiers and calling up reservists as it declares a “state of war alert.”

Hamas claims to have fired 5,000 rockets against Israel in what it has called 'Al-Aqsa Storm.'

A number of militants from Gaza have also entered Israeli territory, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, warning Israelis who live near Gaza to stay in their homes.

One woman has died and at least three others were injured in the rocket barrage, Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service said.

there are many disturbing and graphic videos on Twitter of Palestinian terrorists killing Israeli innocent civilians and spitting on a young dead woman’s body while celebrating. All I see is pure evil.

Also, a rocket fell in a field 5 minutes from my grandparents house. This is terrifying.

hope it will all end soon. Pray for Israel

They chose this government, now they're eating the cake and choking from it.

The blood is on the right wing in Israel, from the government to the voters, it's their fault that this happened.

So nah I'll not pray for my shitty country, it's the price they have to pay for having Netanyahu, Ben-Gvir and the rest of the fascists in this horrible government.

The narrative that Israel is so boo hoo the victim is not working anymore.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Edit: After seeing videos, my condemnation of this is now unequivocal. I don't need to talk about how bad Netanyahu is or anything. Because nothing justifies what I saw. Nothing ever.

Nothing justifies capturing women and parading them naked. Nothing justifies capturing defenseless elderly and parading them for your people to lynch. This is simply terrorism. And I'll call it what it is.

I didn’t vote for Bibi on Ben Gvir and I’m far from supporting them.

Innocents civilians are being slaughtered right now by terrorists. You don’t care about human lives?

if something like this would’ve happen in the US while Trump was the president you would’ve commented the same thing?

shame on you and on your hideous comment, terror supporter.

This is horrendous. I'm generally very critical of Israel, and sympathetic to Palestinian rights and causes. I do believe Israel created an environment which led to this mess.

However, killing civilians is never okay. These aren't even settlers (which again, still civilians, but considering the tension between settlers and not...it'd be more understandable (if still wrong)). They are dragging people out of their cars and executing them, and just shooting up bus stops. There's a horrible video (I wish I hadn't seen it) of a dead Israeli girl partially stripped of her clothes in a car and people taking pictures with her dead, half naked body.

Also, again, I'm sure some people will say this is a take that is kind of like respectability politics. But if someone like me, who is very sympathetic to Palestine, is horrified by the amount of activists and journalists basically justifying this horror....I imagine others will be far worse. And yes, I'm also horrified by Israel's strikes into Gaza and the West Bank, and settlers.

Basically, I just don't see what shooting a bunch of civilians is going to accomplish, especially as Israel can basically respond with even more violence. And I feel like a lot of activists justifying and cheering this **** on don't realize how many sympathetic people they've just alienated.

Well, I'm sure the Israeli government will use this as an excuse to torture more innocent children.

Murder is never truly justified, but if you cage and antagonize just about any living being, eventually it's going to fight back.

Praying for the innocent civilians. Free Palestine.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

I wish it didn't have to come to this, I truly don't. I know that there are many Israeli citizens that don't believe in what their government is doing to Palestine, and I'm sorry that they're getting caught in the cross-hairs of this.

But Israel continues to stoke this fire. The government continues to manipulate the narrative and convince the whole of the western world that they're the good guys trying to defend their land, but they're not. No amount of counter-attacks are going to change that.

The blood of the Israeli citizens that will get caught up in this, as well as the blood of the Palestinians caught up in this, are the hands of the Israeli government. They cannot point their finger at anyone and claim to be innocent victims when they are causing just as much, if not more terror in the region than anyone else. They will use this as an excuse for an unequal counter measure, and they will use it as an excuse to justify their continued pursuit of maintaining an illegitimate, Apartheid state.

I wish well to everyone involved who wants this all to end. I wish it could end sooner, I wish it could end peacefully. I'm thinking of you.

Free Palestine.

I'm Israeli myself, my mom was murdered by Hamas. try better.

This government for months triggered Hamas and did the best to get into this situation.

I know you're saying this with good intentions, but please please reconsider and think carefully.

The images coming out of this chaos are indefensible. Nothing, and I repeat nothing can ever justify what I'm seeing, provoked or not provoked. Captured israeli women being paraded naked in the street? This is like ISIS stuff.

Free Palestine.

I agree.

Unfortunately, I know a lot of people on twitter might be supportive of this, even if it is morally wrong, but it's just going to do way more damage to the Palestinian cause in the long run imo. And again, I'm very critical of Israel and pro Palestine. Israel has done far more damage in the long run to Palestine, and has committed ethnic cleansing.

However, there is zero justification as there is some, as someone above wrote, ISIS type **** going on.

Politicians, and not just a handful of far left ones, have become more outspoken against Israel. But these ISIS style violent, sexual degradation videos and images coming out of civilians  (dead women, clearly executed, and half stripped, naked women being paraded in the street) are probably going to scare away some of the politicians who are critical of Israel.

And as disgusting as this violence is, Israel will likely react with disproportionate violence and countless bombs.

I agree it's gonna look terrible and I also want to make this clear: I don't think it's okay what's being done to innocent citizens. I don't think the actions of Hamas are something to be celebrated or praised.

I do however feel it's impossible to take these things in isolation which I know so many who choose to comment on this will.

Firstly, Hamas and the people of Palestine are not one and the same and I feel they often get lumped into being one and the same which is frustrating when people are breaking their fingers typing about how we should separate the people of Israel from the government of Israel. The people of Palestine are under the thumb of Hamas and can't really escape; there's not fair elections or transitions of power in a state occupied by a group like that. People also love to point to "rising support for Hamas among Palestinians" without discussing the cause: Hamas is their sole protection from Israel.

Going even deeper, the existence of Hamas in the first place is because of Israel. They were formed in the 80s as an uprising/rebel group resisting Israel's occupation of Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. Israel has managed to take something they forced into existence and use it as the biggest tool they have to manipulate the west into support because everyone knows there's nothing the west is more afraid of than terrorists.

What Hamas does is disgusting, and I am all for solving that problem once we get the problem of the conflict solved (will it happen in our lifetime? probably not). But I am very against this narrative that Israel has spun that Hamas is an unprovoked response to something, or that they've come out of nowhere and Israel must defend itself when it's not true.

I especially am disgusted by the way Israel proves so willing to scapegoat their own people as well as use the Palestinians who they know are manipulated and under the thumb of a terrorist organization. Israel openly provokes these sorts of attacks and it's growing more and more clear that they're willing to let their innocent people get killed, brutalized, and humiliated if it means that they can use all of that to further their cause. They provoke it so they can in turn demonize an entire group of people who live under a terrorist regime.

This attack on Hamas' part is disgusting, and I do hope at some point in the future Hamas as an organization can be held accountable for the indefensible things that they've done. I don't however think their actions ought to change the support of Palestine because in the end, Israel is still the larger nation and is still the aggressor and we all know that they bait this sort of thing. They're under no delusions about what'll happen if they provoke.

In the beginning of your statement you made sure to separate hamas from palestine but then proceeded to refer to Israel's military? government? people? who knows, just by "Israel" throughout your whole text. I'm not saying that what you're saying is incorrect, but it's pretty hypocritical of you who went out of their way to make that distinction for one of the sides but not the other and it just fuels that negative bias instead of a productive intellectual discussion in my opinion.

Excuse me, that is my mistake.

I should've made clear: when I say Israel, I do mean specifically their government and the forces of their government carrying out the evil deeds the government dictates, not their citizens.

I believe that we should separate the Israeli citizens from their government as much as we should separate Palestinians from Hamas. It's much easier terminology wise to make a clear distinction between Palestine and Hamas as they're two separately named entities, whereas Israel exists under one banner. But I will make a point to make a clearer distinction next time.

At no point have I held the average citizens of Israel responsible for anything, they're as caught up in all of this as anyone else is.

The same people that are constantly protesting against the government? No one has to pay the price of deaths and gore type of mockery of humans. This is not humanity. No one deserves this, not even the people who voted for the current government. Grow up!
