Gaga most certainly gets demos pitched. And that was the case since at least 2010.

We already know Till It Happens To You was practically written, when she got it. Sour Candy was a demo pitched to her. And there are a few others that indicate this, like PI, Come To Mama,… Also some of the writers she worked with starting with ASIB are known for bringing material to the artist.

Bonus: MJH, Donatella, J&D & Aura were practically finished Instrumentals she wrote over. 

Doesn’t mean she’s not a superb and gifted writer, but yes she gets demos sent to her, and yes she works with them if they are good.

If you’re considering Britney an A-lister then Katy definitely is as well. I think generally it’s based on how well known you are and what you were able to accomplish so far. They’ve both had such high career moments that it would look odd to group them with other people who are not as famous or successful. Also, their returns to music have been talked about for awhile now so anticipation is there.

I didn’t mention it because we don’t know how much of it was reworked. We at least know that the original song was more chilled out stripped back. 

And Elton did record his vocals after it was reworked to Sine.
