I don’t mean to derail this thread either but I don’t even understand why there is a strike and why it has gone on for so long and what is it gonna take to be finished LOL The strike is happening for two reasons: 1. Studios are refusing to reveal their streaming figures so they don't have to pay writers and actors fair residuals. Until streaming, every time a show or movie got replayed on TV or re-released in a cinema, those involved got paid according to the viewing figures and box office. That is called a residual. With streaming, studios are keeping those numbers secret so actors and writers are receiving residual checks as low as a few cents. SAG-AFTRA represents over 160,000 actors and of those only about 2% are wealthy. The rest survive from gig to gig and their lives depend on these residual checks. They're striking to demand the studios pay them fairly for their work according to how much their work is consumed. Studios refuse. 2. Studios also want to take scans of all actors to create AI versions of them. If this is done, the actor will be paid one time but the studio can use this AI version of them as many times as they want without the consent of the actor and the actor will never be paid for it even if their likeness appears in a project. This is affecting mainly background actors as studios want to not have to pay daily salaries for background and bit players when they can just pay once to get unlimited infinite use out of an actor's likeness. Actors are understandably horrified at the idea of their likeness being used any time without consent as well as the idea of them being forced out of work entirely. On the writer's guild side, they're striking because of point one as well as studios wishing to use AI in their scripts rather than hiring actual writers. This is very helpful!!! such a shame this could prevent people from getting their rightful pay- and also prevent Gaga from releasing her project Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
RAMROD 104,131
I don't know why it take so long but I don't think this movie are blocked from release because of the strike. From my understanding, the strike rules are for actual motion pictures that got plots and story with soundtrack in it, not concert movies. Especially since the actors strikes is happening mainly to support the Writers guild strikes, who many are friends of actors. For all we know, it might have been already shelved for whatever reasons, like her many other projects that were named but never actually see the light of day. Like, we are talking about an artist who cancelled the duet song with Cher because she doesn't like how it mixed even if Cher doesn't mind it, and the one who cancelled original concepts of her album, before it was released because she suddenly had intrusive thoughts about paying homage to her aunt that she doesn't know, but stories from her dad. I'm sorry if this sounds pessimistic, but this is pretty much the reality for us, Gaga fans, since the past few years. She said and hinted it herself in some of her past interviews since ARTPOP that she doesn't enjoy being a pop star as much as she did before anymore. So best we can do is letting her do things in her own pace and enjoyed whatever else offered from other pop stars, I guess. Overreacting, these concert films often take over a year to be released and there's no reason at all to think it's being shelved. We're only waiting and it's a thing we are used to. Also please don't derail the thread by bringing Joanne hate into this, it's perfectly common for an artist to scrap concepts and change direction of their projects in the making, art goes through a huge amount of iterations. In general, nothing of this is hinting at her not enjoying being Lady Gaga anymore: you're only seeing the negative side of waiting and I can guarantee you'll eat your words when the film will be released and will be awesome ❤️ Edited August 31, 2023 by TimotheeChalamet 1
Maria Brink 1,501
Reality and factual production is not affected by the strike, which is why we see things like Love Island and Big Brother being filmed still. Sarah Hyland, the host of Love Island USA is a SAG-AFTRA member, and she was still able to appear on the show as it is non-scripted. TCB and Eras Tour are non scripted factual productions.. The only issue I can see for TCB film is that Hold My Hand, Shallow and Always Remember Us This Way are from films. She wouldn't cut these songs as they are GP friendly and the film needs to appeal to everyone and not just the Little Monster fanbase because that's how business works.

It’s 2023 and y’all still don’t understand Joanne? First of all, the switch was 100% due to her split with Taylor, after a 5 year relationship. That means all those love songs she wrote for that album were completely irrelevant… she had to write new songs that matched her current feelings (ie Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons, Sinners Prayer). The album also is not about her aunt, it’s about her self (her middle name, hence the album being in the middle of Gaga and Stefani). She’s explained this before, the song and the album have two different meanings.

Taylor is releasing her tour in theatres in October . Why can she get away with it but not Gaga? not arguing just genuinely asking!!! Taylor is releasing on theatre not streaming, and also none of her songs are soundtrack songs, so SAG approved the release. Show films are not scripted so they are not prohibited by the strike, its just that The Chromatica Ball happens to have a few details like - 3 songs from movies and a supposedly streaming deal that make the whole thing complicated
