crazygato 538
I know I know! Its not one of Madonna's best albums and is hated by most of her fans. I used to hate it too and thought it was pretentious and SO ANNOYING! I couldnt get through it tbh, until one year ago I heard "Love Spent". All I thought was "this is the core of the album, this is what it is about!" It was obviously a break up album even though her team passed it off as a party album . I realized the problem lay with the tracklist. It is so bloated and LOUD you dont have a "breather" until the 11th track! Somwhere in the bloated mess there is a bittersweet story about love, hopes, anger, sadness, rebellion and a frágile ego, all associated with people after a breakup. This is the tracklist I use and listen to and recommend as it tells a personal story: 1. Girl Gone Wild 2. Bang Bang 3. Im Addicted 4. Give Me All Your Luvin ft. Nicki Minaj & MIA 5. Some Girls 6. Masterpiece 7. Love Spent 8. I F***ed Up 9. Superstar 10. Turn Up The Radio 11. Beautiful Killer Tracks 1- 5 deal with a fragile ego and putting up a facade even though anger(GB), euphoria ( GGW,IA), and insecurity (SG, GMAYL) are bubbling underneath. Tracks 6-8 show vulnerability and exploits the personal story of the broken relationship from admiration and love (Masterpiece) to falling apart (LS) and finally introverted self critique and blame/confession laid bare on "I F***ed Up". It picks up the pace again on tracks 9 and 10 with pure escapism from the sadness in the form of a new beau (Superstar) or music (TUTR). But it doesnt end there in the escapism because in the 11th and final track she confesses she is still in love with her ex (BK) who eventually kills her, ending the album , hence the gunshot at the end... And that, ladies and gentlemen, ends my review on MDNA!!!
dimitristhe 1,562
I used to like that album when I was a teenager. As I grew up I tend to forget its existence, because it’s so loud and messy. It has some bobs though, Girl Gone Wild, Gang Bang, Beautiful Killer, Lovespent and Masterpiece. I really like the live version of I Don’t Give A, it’s more raw and angry than the autotuned studio version. I’m Addicted could have been better with less production, but it’s so loud and aged like milk, just like Some Girls. I F****d Up, B-day Song, Best Friend and Superstar are atrocious. I’m Sinner and Turn Up The Radio is just ok, nothing impressive or unique. Give Me All Your Luvin’ is like a outtake from Pink Friday. I never liked Falling Free, it’s so boring and a ROL wannabe. If Madge let her emotions and forget about success and charts she can make beautiful pieces of art. With this album she tried to compete with younger artists and it failed miserably. The theme was there, as you mentioned, but it was lost in that horrendous track-listing. It could have been an electronic dance break up album, but Madge lost her interest and everything f*cked up. Thank God for Rebel Heart and Madame X. When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright
TheBeast 1,410
I also agree that its one of Madonna's best albums. Masterpiece is a song I listen to regularly and think it's massively underrated. You can't hide who you are, 11:59.

Also idk if you realized but the tracklist I made is based off the American Life tracklist, especially the middle. Another personal album promoted as something it was not. Nothing Fails> Masterpiece Intervention > Love Spent X-Static Process> I F*cked Up I see my tracklist of MDNA as a personal mixtape of sorts

Anderson123 38,810
I like some parts of the album but overall not the best listening experience from start to finish. For Madonna’s standards it IS pretty bad though. Masterpiece is still the best song on the album but doesn’t really count, they just attached the song she made for her movie but Love Spent is definitely another highlight. It seems like she was trying to work both on an EDM album just to keep up with pop music trends at that time while working on the movie and both projects felt flat. I really hated Give Me All Your Luvin’. I deleted that years ago. Can’t believe that’s the best they got for the Superbowl.

TimotheeChalamet 5,860
Overall, MDNA reminds me of the time Madonna came on tour in Florence and the city was all locked up because of her (she was shooting the music video for Turn Up The Radio near my high school). I went to the pool with my friends after spending 1h looking for a parking space and someone stole my sunglasses there.

You made a story out of that mess. I always believed American Life was promoted badly. It’s not a political album, only the lead single was political. All the other songs are deeply personal. In my opinion American Life is her most personal album. If any Madonna album can be called political maybe it’s Madame X, due to the fact it has 5 political songs. And also think its her most personal album but the era, just like MDNA, was ruined by the lead single. That was horrible lol!
Reject False Icons 4,782
I remember in 2012 I wanted to discover other pop queens besides Gaga, and casually Madonna was releasing an album, I liked the SBHS and GMAYL sounded fun, I listened to the album and I liked it, it was very party energetic EDM, nothing extraordinary but fun. I didn’t get the hate of older fans neither I got into the stupid M vs Gaga feud. It was my first Madge album and I didn’t have a point of comparison I left a long time to listen to it again and now I feel like it’s aged quite well, if you are working out it’s the perfect vibe that you need, and so I thought it was for Madonna. But Girl Gone Wild not being the lead single is a crime I can’t forget
