SCOTUS rules in favor of business who refuses service to same-sex couples

I'm Catholic and yet I agree that there should be a separation between church and state, but I don't see that in this ruling. Discriminatory beliefs that are rooted in bigotry and hatred shouldn't have a place in state in the year of 2023.

This. Separation of church and state does not exist

The gag is: this was a preemptive suit. No gay couple actually asked her to do it, she just filed a suit based on the hypothetical possibility that she *might* be asked to do that.

Lmao that is so ridiculous. And ambitious of her to think gay ppl will want to give her their money

Mister G

That trash bandit filed the lawsuit using an imaginary same-sex couple that doesn’t even exist and screams of falsified evidence. She only did this on the off chance they would ask her and SCOTUS continues to demonstrate their corruption and illegitimacy. I hope people remember this and channel their anger into voting out legislators that are signing off on appointing these a**holes.

If a business decides they're not going to serve me for being queer, I hope they're ready to shut down immediately afterwards for an extensive renovation. They're gonna need it when I'm done with them :iamfair:

Did they rule that businesses are allowed to deny service to Gay people? or did they rule that businesses have the right to artistic choices and can deny art that involves Gay themes?

There is a big difference..

Religion has no place in politics. There shouldn't be "under god" anywhere in government nor swearing on bibles.

Separating state and church doesnt mean you cant vote laws inspired by religion, it just means the government cant use religion as an excuse to create a law, it has to be voted democratically.

Unless you want to end up like France, which is a horrible example of secularism.

France makes a very neat separation between state and church and that's also why you can't invokes "religious freedom" to legally discriminate gays. :koons:

I personally prefer it to the rules SCOTUS is making rn. They're kinda turning the US into a theocracy and it's scary imo.

Yeah, I think there’s a pretty obvious solution here.  Find a LGBTQ-owned company and put your money where it matters.

that being said- I’d love to see the government shut down businesses that discriminate.

This is going to be very difficult for many rural/conservative areas

In France, Muslim mothers are not allowed to attend their children's schools, go to beaches, or work for the government. This is just one example of how bad secularism is in France.

While you might not be religious, we have to apply our standards on everyone. As a Gay Muslim, I have an issue with France and America discrimination, but I prefer America. Most of these anti Gay laws in America are an overreaction that dont really effect anyone.
