In May 2023, it was announced that Beetlejuice 2 had been given a release date of September 6, 2024; with Jenna Ortega set to star as Lydia's daughter, and Justin Theroux in an undisclosed role. Keaton and Ryder are also expected to reprise their roles, as well as Burton returning to direct - reuniting him and Ortega after Wednesday. It was also reported that Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar may be involved with the screenplay.

I'm extremely wary to trust this until production actually starts. there've been rumblings and production hell since the 90s and again every few years. I've let my expectations get the better of me too many times before. I'd absolutely love if they could bring back catherine o'hara though. delia is such an amazing character.

Yeah, but this time around they've got a young super relevant actress attached which will make marketing for the movie much easier and safer and with bigger chances of a success. 

Beetlejuice isn't THAT known to gen-z so making a sequel so many years later would always be a risk but having the absolute biggest young actress attached will probably result in it finally being developed. I don't know when they last tried but doubt they had any super relevant names attached which alongside a not-so-stellar script could've been the main reason it didn't take off.
