“The Scottish government is to launch a legal challenge to Westminster's block on its controversial gender reforms.

The proposals, which would allow people in Scotland to self-identify their sex, were passed by the Scottish Parliament in December last year.

But they were blocked by the UK government over their potential impact on UK-wide equality laws.

First Minister Humza Yousaf has previously described that move as an "undemocratic veto".”

I feel like the SNP are so out of touch with people and their own party, especially after the leadership contest exposed the cracks in how unified an independent Scotland would actually be. This bill is poorly designed and focuses on optics rather than the realities.

The age drop and removal of a medical requirement feels ill-advised in my opinion, even though I understand the intent. I'm all for streamlining admin but it's not exactly a light decision to make.
