Dude, you dont need a study to know men are stronger than women, its basic knowledge.

I do have a question though, would you ban trans women who did not take hormones from womens sports?

I would not, because trans women are women. And also, people come in all shapes and sizes. To be honest.. I believe anybody can compete with everybody. Gender is a spectrum. Erase men and women categories. (I also believe that babies should not be gendered when they are born, and should remain non-binary until they can decide for themselves.)

While gender is real, you need to understand that sex is also scientifically a real thing. You are clearly driven by your political ideology, to the point where you forgot that men are stronger than women! Even after you acknowledged that men are stronger, you still want to inforce the idea that its okay for men to compete with women!

Im down with the idea of gender abolition aslong as its based on science and reality. To me, gender abolition is fighting against social expectations and preassure of the sexes, and unequal sexist laws. But if it means we deny science and reality, and build based our ideological utopia, im not down with this.

why are we weighing the competitive fairness of sports over trans kids lives lmao. Even if you do believe trans athletes give teams an advantage, It literally does not matter. Like ???? kids are out here dying.

Nobody did that.

It's not what categories ( man or woman ) they're in that's killing trans kids. It's the hate towards them.

Nobody want trans kids to die just cause they question the sports competition rules so why do you say such awful things?

trans women are absolutely real women…but you are erasing cis women with this belief. gender is a spectrum, but sex is not and as someone said before, transitioning after puberty can make certain physical aspects uneven. people “coming in all shapes and sizes” is a very simple and overgeneralized take.

idk what you think I said, but I don't understand anything you said. lol. It just doesn't matter if trans athletes skew sports games to one team or whatever. That's what this is supposedly all about. Keeping women's sports fair and competitive for women. It's just a made up fake fear. As if trans women will come in with their powerful bodies and replace every single cis woman in every sport. There just aren't that many trans athletes. And nobody is transitioning just to play a sport on a women's team. This is the same as the fake fear of trans bathroom bills.

I think part of the problem people don’t want to address is that to these students, their entire future and college is dependent on excelling in sports, rather than being entitled to an education based on being a citizen and paying taxes.

if people’s futures didn’t revolve around being the fastest runner, this wouldn’t be a big deal.

I don't get why we need to reinvent the wheel... what was wrong with dividing sports by sex like it has always been done? You can never change your sex but you can your gender identity. They are different things.

I can't imagine a man who transitioned into a woman fighting other women in UFC...

It sucks that we can't find a proper answer yet. Even cis female athletes with high testosterone haven't all been spared from the conundrum, with some reports I've seen of some getting disqualified from female sports (further complicated by the fact that they are often women of colour). It is definitely interesting, useful, productive and all the good stuff to address this "scientifically", but the political atmosphere is something we would be naive to ignore, and even while solutions still seem far off, I deeply empathize with the exhaustion of trans people and activists. Big sigh.

Was this thread creating to share news or to create an argument? Times are touchy and this probably could’ve been Left un discussed on GAGA daily. I am not disclosing whether I agree or disagree on the subject - but that I don’t like to see us fight.

It was intended to start a discussion.

It doesn’t matter where said discussion takes place, but it’s a discussion that needs to happen. This is a predominantly LGBTQ+ website, this is an LGBTQ+ matter. If we are unwilling to discuss what’s happening within our own community than we’re complicit in what’s happening. Burying our head in the sand, looking the other way, keeping our mouth shut because of the environment we’re in only serves to harm our trans brothers and sisters. There is no kindness on the table when the government is trying to interfere with the constitutional rights of citizens who’ve done nothing wrong, and that’s especially true when said citizens are actual children who just want to play sports.

With "over trans kids live" followed by a reminder trans kids were dying it came across as you thinking folks here didn't GAF about what happened to trans kids or care more for sports competition than for their lives.

I hope I misunderstood you then.

I don't understand how or why sports is relating to gender or gender expression at all. I firmly believe, and I think only a couple of others do as well, that this is a topic that should exclusively respect assigned sex. Anything that involves physical activity when it relates to other people in team and competitive settings should not regard one's gender expression or identity. Trans women are indeed women, but women are also women and do not have the physical competitive edge of having been born with more testosterone which indeed affects athletic performance (that is literally what steroids are).

I don't think it's a made up fear, especially while the evidence is scarce. You're right to a point, some of it is clouded by hatred and some people are using it as an opportunity to attack transpeople. But if someone is being competitive, it will affect their income and career as an athlete, which really is short-lived for athletes who give up a lot of their early life to do this.

Athletes usually have to win to get the most visibility to earn sponsorships, build a career and make their living. So if ciswomen are at a disadvantage on the podium, that will affect their livelihoods. Especially at high school level in places like the US, where potential elite athletes who perform well can get full ride college scholarships.

That said, in amateur sports, I don't see an issue as it's just fun and in most cases, co-ed sports are becoming more popular which is good. But at an elite or even semi-professional level, it can really make/break people's lives.

Without hormones????

I'm not sure gender being a spectrum is relevant to that particular part of the question about hormones he was asking as he's asking about seperation of males and females because of physical differences and how u express yourself gender wise is a bit seperate to that.

At the end of the day if u have Not undergone any hormone therapy or started any transition you are physical still of the same sex and your gender expression does not alter you physically in anyway which is the reason segregation in sports exists in the first place. It was created due to sex physically  not gender.

Unless u get rid of sex or gender categories altogether and focus only on weight and height etc cuz tbh that makes even more sense.

But if u don't seperate ppl by weight and height etc while simultaneously ending sex or gender segregations ur gonna create a situation where men will end up winning 90% or more of the time in many of the sports and that isn't really fair either
