I didn't really think a deranged chef with a cult following was what I needed to get the point across... My take on it wasn't a story like that, but rather a commentary about losing your passions in life.

The movie is about how modern society has removed the passion from a lot of things that used to be driven by it. He's assembled all of these people for this meal because they represent the things that stripped his passion out of what he does, and the SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO'VE NOT SEEN IT Spoiler reason that Anya's character is allowed to live at the end is because she demonstrates that she just wants something simple, made with passion, and accepted with gratitude. She is a giver in that scenario, not just a taker.
Butters Stotch 5,364
Literally just watched it and I thought it was brilliant. When the chef says: you represent the ruin of my art. Heavenly FIND YOUR FREEDOM IN THE MUSIC

Hmm to me it felt like the whole thing was focused on the Chefs personal vendetta (he lost his passion, movie said nothing else about passion lost else where) and he also wanted these rich people punished for their wrongful deeds (e.g. Why else bring up the old man's affair, the financial fraud of the three entrepreneurs etc) Also having the rest of the restaurant employees blindly follow him was too weird/cult like - definitely not needed to get across a point on social commentary unless maybe if the commentary is about herd behaviour/worshipping radical figures etc JUST MY OPINION THOUGH! I am also someone who wasn't blown away by the super popular Glass Onion so not surprised we've got a few disagreements in here x Guess the movie succeeds at least in being open to different interpretations for viewers
