Anyone else think that P!nk…

I've followed her since the start and she always said that she's not that inspired when she's happy. Having kids changed her and she is now in a better personal space so ofc this really impacted her music. I really didn't like half of Beautiful Trauma and H2BH, but I am really enjoying the songs from Trustfall. I have to admit I do miss the rockier sounding P!nk, my fav albums are Try This (it's like her Gaga's ARTPOP, one of her best albums but super underrated), together with I'm Not Dead and Funhouse.

I agree, she's fallen so far since her heyday from 2001-2008. It's not just that she used to make more uptempo and rock-inspired music, it's that her music had so much heart and soul. You truly believed she was passionate about these songs. But her recent material is disappointing and worse, forgettable. Personally, I think the trouble began with The Truth About Love, that was her first album that I was a bit more meh about. There were great songs on it (a lot of good ones got sidelined to the deluxe, annoyingly, especially The King Is Dead But The Queen Is Alive which is one of my all-time favourite Pink songs) but the majority of tracks were just ok. Then she took that 5 year break and when she came back with Beautiful Trauma, it was so bland in a way I'd never heard from her before. It was the only album of hers that I thought was under-par apart from her debut (back before she found a sound that worked for her). She followed it up quick with Hurts 2B Human, most likely because she was thrown by the lukewarm reception she got last time and I thought it was a slight improvement but her fans didn't seem to think so. And when this album started out with the generic pop of Never Gonna Not Dance Again, I knew she was never getting back to her classic sound we knew and loved. The first 3 tracks are promising, then it's all downhill, apart from Lost Cause. She described it as her best album yet, which baffles me. It sounds nothing like what she used to make, why would she think it's better? I don't know how she can do those crazy acrobatics on tour but not want to make exciting music to go with it anymore. She released the song, Irrelevant, last year, in protest of the overturn of Roe v Wade, so she's still got it in her to make that sorta style.

I get it, she's grown up, she's a mother of 2, she's settled and happy, she's not angry at the world and want to release rebellious music like she used to. But we've seen people older than her who can still make interesting and exciting music, you just do it in a mature way. If she doesn't feel inspired when she's happy, just don't make music. Because when artists dilute their work over time, it affects their legacy. Seeing how successful her summer carnival tours are, clearly, her fans are willing to pay to see her sing the classics so I think, if she can't come up with something truly great, she should just stick to that. I still respect her as a talented artist because her old music is good enough in isolation but she likes her comfort zone way too much. To be honest, she's always been that way, but if you're going to get into a comfort zone, make sure it's an interesting one.

I’ve not really vibed with her music since Funhouse.  It just feels really generic since then and it could be music that anyone could be putting out :messga: I don’t “hate” that - I think there’s always space for generic music but it’s funny seeing people herald her current music as amazing when it sounds like that.

I get this but you didn’t like TTAL? Like I said it was the last record of the P!nk we know and had some really great songs. Other then that, I feel the exact same way!

Complete garbage? No.

She's just settled into her comfort zone and I don't find anything wrong with that. She's been making music now for over 20 years, she's selling out stadiums around the world, and she's collected more hits than some of her peers can dream of. She isn't at the point where she has to prove anything anymore, so why should she feel the need to still be pushing boundaries if that isn't what she'd like to do?

We don't have to agree with an artist's direction, but I think it's time stans stopped demanding things out of them at the same time. She's earned the right to make whatever music she would like to make, and if this is it then that's it. It clearly hasn't hurt her esteem with the public so I don't really see where the foul is here.

her selling out stadiums is a testimony of who she is as a artist.

There were a few tracks from her latest album that I liked on initial listen, but I will never listen to any of them ever again. You know what I mean?

I disagree, I love her new music. I think maybe it’s not connecting with some people here because she’s not trying to appeal to the “pop girl stans” audience. Her music has as much if not more emotion in it now than ever before, and I actually connect with it on a much deeper level than some of her earlier work (which I also love). Her music speaks to what means to be human in such a deep, authentic way, and it connects on such a spiritual level with her fans. Sure her sound is less edgy lately, plus she quit smoking and lost some of the rasp in her voice which may make her sound less edgy, but I can’t express how much I adore this mature, thoughtful, reflective P!nk.

Also noticing a lot of people referring to Never Gonna Not Dance Again, which is just cheery and fun. Listen to Turbulence, Hate Me, Runaway, Lost Cause, etc. Hate Me has a total Funhouse/TTAL vibe to it

I initially didn’t enjoy the Trustfall album, but the more I listen the more it has grown on me. There’s a lot of emotion going on and I think “Trustfall” (the song) is a pretty great bop.

I sort of like Try and that’s it, the rest sounds kind of meh to me :enigma:
