Yeah I've tried to reason with this person for months, to no avail. They've become even more extreme in their position.

Same! You justify anything on the Ukrainian side, starting from attempts to bring NATO in the war over the Poland incident, because you decided Ukraine or "your side" can do no wrong period. You are radically and ideologically entrenched in your position, any attempt to discuss rationally is hopeless with the many people that see this like you.

Today is probably the first time I see them shamelessly blame Ukraine for the war, rather than the invading russian forces.

I did not blame Ukraine for the war but said that the war is going on because both sides believe they can retake or take more land from the other side. The war is still going because neither side wants to give up. This is clear as Ukraine stepped out of the peace negociations in April. How you scandalize over common sense I just don't get.

I don't see the "both sides" in this statement above. You can try to walk it back all you want, it'd be more appropriate to apologize for blaming Ukraine for the continuation of the war. And a common tactic among the anti-Ukraine propagandists in the West is to claim that "Russia is not a threat" anymore and Ukraine needs no more help, with the intent of actually deceiving people about the real war dynamics. Russia mobilized 350k troops and they have more troops in Ukraine than the start of their invasion, they're not finished, unless your intent is deception.

You can now stop engaging me. I've provided the quote so that you see your own words. I'm not interested in debating this anymore. By now everyone who reads your posts have realized what your motives are.

This gotcha moments doesn't work because no reply contradicts the other. The war is still going because Russia wants control over the 4 regions and Ukraine wants to reestablish control over the 4 regions. Now tell me where the gotcha comes to picture and how you literallly drop dead over the uttering of a common sense take. The war continues because neither side want to give up anything to the other.

Explain me why Ukraine needs to be supported in order that it will not give an inch to Russia but we don't support Palestine retaking all its lands and we want it to coexist with Israel. Just give me a coerent simple reason why we do this and I SWEAR I never in my life will question anything about wars and foreign policy. I just want to settle this huge logical fracture so I can support Ukraine retaking Crimea in good conscience.

Oh that one is easy: because too many people benefit from a good relationship with Israel whereas no one benefits from Russia winning this war.

It's not right, it's actually quite sickeningly two-faced, but it's why.

That being said...I don't know that the stance you're taking here is the one to be taking. @Dennis and I were debating the day before yesterday about the moral reasons for western intervention and we disagreed on it. You and I seemed to agree on the reason for intervention, but I've gotta say that I cannot stand next to you on the debate of whether or not this is the right or wrong thing to do.

Ukraine needs the help of the world, and that doesn't change because they do or have done things that are objectionable. Those are thing that can be dealt with at a later date. At this current date, their invasion represents an escalation of aggression from a country that has long been a concern to most of the world. Now is the time to push back. Sitting back and just letting it happen sends a very clear message to leaders like Putin: "You can do whatever you want."

It's hypocritical I agree. It's hypocritical that we're stepping in to help Ukraine but letting Palestine continue to suffer. I don't not see that point. But it is reprehensible to sit and have a debate over who is more deserving of being helped against an unjust invasion when they both do. That's like saying we need to stop protecting trans people because drag queens are also under attack. One is not more deserving of assistance than the other, they're both victims of horrendous atrocities and their attackers both need to be put in their place.

The fact of the matter is no country should be denied aid against an unjust invasion simply because we may not personally align with their politics or their past. Imagine if the rest of Europe would've stood aside when Germany invaded Poland simply because of something about Poland's past or politics that they disagreed with.

You can't just let dictators like Putin have their way. He represents a threat to the whole world. Israel, despite the horrid things they're doing to Palestine, does not. It's quite obvious why eyes have turned to one more so than the other. That doesn't make it right, not by a long shot, but that is no excuse to actively be trying to place negativity upon a small nation who's population is being murdered and displaced for no legitimate reason.

I don't know why I should even entertain your question. But you said you'll never ask this question again, so i'll answer you so that maybe just maybe you stop constantly bringing this up.

You say Palestine retaking all of its land instead of coexisting with Israel? Well that's basically the removal of an entire nation, the nation of Israel. Do you even hear what you're saying or you're only interested in whataboutisms and false analogies? I didn't know Ukraine taking back its territory would spell the end of the russian state, since you're tyring to analogize the two?

How is the destruction of Israel (as you apparently advocate for) is the moral position parallel to the defense of Ukraine? I just don't get it. Palestine never existed as a country in modern history. If you're gonna go back to centuries ago, might as well disband U.S and most other countries in the world. U.N proposed the creation of a Palestinian state in 1947, in along an Israei state, not instead of, which is exactly what I support. The idea that the solution to this is the destruction/removal of one of these states right to exist is genocidal quite frankly. I support palestinian statehood. But if you think the solution is to deny Israelis the right to exist, you're just as extreme/genocidal as the israeli far right who deny palestinians the right to exist.

I don't know why you're trying to compare two things that aren't the same. But clearly you lack the depth to understand anything related to geopolitics. And also, as the poster above mentioned, the idea that you want to create competition between people who are suffering is just sick to me quite frankly. Nothing is preventing you from sympathizing with both ukrainians and palestinians. You don't have to choose.

Now deliver on your promise and stop constantly trying to bring this up whenever there's a discussion about Ukraine.
