Of course they’re valid?  I’m not sure what you’re trying to ask/insinuate though - they’d also go back down the road of gender affirming surgery.  That’s what it is, gender affirming surgery.

It’s not just trans kids/adults that get it.  For example, men who grow breast tissue and want it removed; that’s gender affirming surgery.  All sorts of hormone imbalances would need to be corrected with gender affirming surgery, same with accidents that cause disfigurement to genitals, breasts etc…

You do realize that no person should live the rest of their life infertile because of decisions they made at 10-13?

Yes and there have been cases of regret and sometimes these children face serious health complications. Heck  sometimes there can be media or peer pressure to influence/condition children/teens to transition. This was the case for me and a friend. I think liberalism and the left are taking things too far. You don’t firmly figure out your identity as young as 5, 10 or 15. There’s a bunch of  sick corporates who are making millions if not billions off gender medical care and for a fact they could care less about how sure you are or any health complications you face.

Sorry if you’re not comfortable with sharing but what part of the world are you from?  I have read there are some Asian countries that are keen to force gays/lesbians to transition to the opposite sex because they’d rather have a trans son/daughter over a gay one.

It’s cultures where this might be a thing why we need safe guards.  It’s why I’m pro-blockers just to stop puberty so there’s time to really dive into whether this is what someone wants.

My Christ dude, 92% of trans people also shouldn’t be forced to go through puberty which will make transitioning harder because a slim minority of people may regret transitioning.

What do we do if these children change their minds by the time they are 20? Since they are talking about kids I assume they mean pre-puberty.

No disrespect, but it really isn’t a we decision to figure out what happens if someone changes their mind. That’s between patients and their healthcare providers, not the general public or politicians.

Bro what are you talking about? It is thanks to politicians and support from the general public that things like this become legal. Of course it is for us to think about the negatives and positives, because we as a society are the ones who push for these things to become legal.

He specifically said in the case of people that want to detransition and he’s right.  It isn’t for us to say what happens because every case would be very different and again - it’s only a very small amount of people that actually go through with surgery that this would be a problem for.

You’re insinuating it’s right to withdraw what is for many people life saving medication and then procedures for 100% of a group because a slim minority within 8% of that group go so far down the road past blockers that they have and regret surgery.  That’s just crazy to me and inflicting unnecessary pain on a lot of people.

“We” as in a voting public, should not be the ones digging into the weeds to develop therapeutic protocols for a patient that wants to detransition. To be quite frank, we don’t need more unqualified people with zero scientific or medical training telling endocrinologists what to do, particularly when said physicians already have a process in place when those situations arise. It’s one thing to vote on laws that govern these processes, it’s another thing to think so highly of yourself to tell doctors what to do.

I agree with this - and I don't agree at all with this proposed bill, but everything in the medical world is regulated by lawmakers at both federal and state level (its the law that allows them to practice and protects gender-affirming care). And remember, this actually fell off at the senate last time a state tried to do this. I don't think this bill will go through due to everything opposers of the bill have stated.

puberty blockers don't make you infertile, though

I understand that! And perhaps I'm not being clear myself in my responses, but my point is that trying to dictate how physicians treat their patients when you don't have much insight into the process really isn't helpful (as a recent example in my own neck of the woods, just because someone happens to have a position in office and is able to lobby for a specific cause doesn't mean they're an expert on this type of care). My stance is much more critical of how this government approaches medical issues and bioethics in general though, and not just limited on gender affirmation procedures. I work in the biomed industry and have seen too many situations where politics have hindered the ability to give patients the care they deserve because of, to be frank, unscientific claims. It's frustrating is all.

I hope they block it from passing. Hey Biden can we work on protecting LGBTQ+ from a federal level? Is that even possible now with our congress? Should have been done before the election.

Sadly they are ten senate votes short of a filibuster

That's not even what I am saying. I am asking, what do we do about the kids who do change their mind? They are valid too. That's still 8% of kids who (potentially) have physically damaged themselves for the rest of their lives and god knows what kind of mental problems might stem from that too, not being able to fully change back to your biological sex. Not to mention that so much can go wrong while you're still developing too.

Speak on something you know hunny. Until then speak not at all
