Canada Makes Deal With Provinces For More Healthcare Funding, Less Than Asked For

The Premiers in Canada accepted Trudeau's Federal Government offer in increased healthcare funding even tho it fell far short of what they were looking for.

 

The Provinces were looking to have the Federal Government participate in at least 35% of healthcare costs vs 25% now. Instead the Government commited an additional $5 Billion or so annually.

 

Once upon a time, The Federal Government shouldered as much as 50% of healthcare costs. That number has fallen as low as 25% in recent years as Federal spending increases failed to keep up with Provincial increases
