SonOfAphrodite 1,838
Damn we are really going to have to fight hard against these laws. They are directly causing harm to all of us across the nation. I feel for all the lgbtq+ in North Carolina, hope they aren’t feeling hopeless

Girl I can't even begin to tell you how sick it makes me being my state and as an educator. So many children don't have safe places at home and now they won't even have trusted adults at school. They're calling it the Parents Bill of Rights. Saying we can't teach sexuality or gender K-4. NO ONE IS DOING THAT! I swear these conservatives make up things that are being taught just pass these stupid laws. Then that parents should be able to review any book or curriculum used in the classroom. Well that has always been a thing, but okay go ahead and put it in this law so it looks like you're doing something. This still has to pass the House, which it likely will. Our governor will veto it but it'll go back to the house so they'll be able to pass it. It just makes me sick. Any child at my school will always have a safe place with me. she/her/hers

It won’t pass. it’s so stupid that republicans are STILL trying this. The entire reason we have governor cooper is because they went transphobic and it cost the state billions and ended up costing McCrory his re election. They can’t push through any of this legislation until after the 2024 election, where they could possibly gain a house supermajority/vote in a Republican governor. There are some democrats that have supported this from what I've heard. Let's hope we can keep a democrat as a governor in 2024. (Love my home state). they need one dem to flip to get a supermajority which can definitely be done. but from what I understand Dems are more focused pushing their own version of the bill (that excludes the anti LGBT stuff and just ensures nothing sexual gets taught in those elementary grades). Im really hoping 2024 will continue NCs record of electing dem governors. If Robinson is the 2024 rep candidate for governor i don’t see him winning. Especially if Trump is the presidential nominee. But time will tell.

We do puberty education and that is all. And we get parent permission for that. she/her/hers

The name suggests nothing good but I'd like to know. Nvm, I read the article and the bill is disgusting tbh.
