Moscow has slammed Berlin’s move to supply Ukraine with battle tanks and accused Germany of abandoning its “historical responsibility to Russia” arising from Nazi crimes in World War II.

The Russian embassy in Germany said on Wednesday the decision to send 14 German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv and allow allies to re-export the same models would worsen the war in Ukraine and lead to “permanent escalation”.

“This extremely dangerous decision takes the conflict to a new level of confrontation and contradicts the statements of German politicians about the unwillingness of the Federal Republic of Germany to be drawn into it,” Ambassador Sergei Nechayev said.

“It destroys the remnants of mutual trust, causes irreparable damage to the already deplorable state of Russian-German relations, and casts doubt on the possibility of their normalisation in the foreseeable future.”

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock isn't bashful about laying blame on Russia as its war in Ukraine surpasses 11 months.

Baerbock used a significant portion of her keynote address Tuesday at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, to defend law, democracy and human rights in response to "Russia's murderous attack on the people of Ukraine."

"We are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other," Baerbock said, according to the A News TV network.

Of he can just wait for the pro-russia right-wing party to be elected next year. Russia has done a fantastic job infiltrating the right in America, by exploiting issues about wokeness and anti-LGBT they ended making millions of americans think that Putin is their ally in their culture war. That's why you see a lot of them defending Russia. And when/if MAGA are back in power, it'll be reflected in official policy as well.

As someone living in Germany for years, I’m appalled by the sheer irresponsibility the state has shown in times of such a crisis, by not helping Ukraine enough and going as far as blocking help. I understand the historical context of hesitancy to be involved in a war now,  and maybe germans here can correct me if I’m missing some important points, but this was about to cause an unfixable damage to not only Germany’s own reputation, but also in general EU’s capacity to defend the very principles and morals it is built upon.

Highly doubt it’ll be back in power considering the criminal stuff with trump and the internal fights between right wing sub-parties (the trumpies vs non trumpies vs conspiracy theorists vs normal people can QAnon crazies)
