But there are also diseases that are genetically induced that happen irrespective of the will of the owners. This is because pure breed dogs in general come from a smaller genetical poll, which means they are more inbred so the chance of having gene mutations from both parents is higher.

And french bulldogs and similar breeds while very cute have an unnatural skull shape that makes them breath less easily. The owner can't undo the skull shape of its dog, so again this is not only a matter of educating people.

 I researched it and it wasn't with a dog. It is with a wild cat called a serval and a domesticated cat.

I agree with the move exept for the part about banning ownership.

 

The dogs already alive and that have owners are already here now, they deserve to live and be loved

 

The ban should apply to breeding new ones only I think

I just learnt recently that flat-faced dogs, like pugs and French bulldogs, were NOT flat-faced originally (look the photos up). Most of them are now like this because people thought they were cuter this way, so breeders made sure to exclusively breed these ones, who have health issues because of this. It's disgusting.

Absolutely! In another part of the article they say owners that already have designer dogs are not affected by the rules. If they care about dogs it would be counter-intuitive othewise..

I would make the case that it depends.

If there are dogs facing euthanasia in the country or area where you live then it doesn't feel ethical to buy a dog.

Look up all the breeds and you’ll find German shepherds with straight backs, Bullterriers with a straight snout and mastiffs who weren’t as large & heavy as today. 

 

And then of course brachycephalie breeds with longer snouts who were able to breath normally. 

It’s a shame what people have done to those breeds over the decades. I hope it’ll be forbidden everywhere but then sadly there is always a black market for everything.

Ah ok good. The bit OP posted didn't make that clear and almost made it sound like it was ownership in general

 

Language matters. Kind of like when countries started making dates to ban gasoline cars yet they didn't specify at times they meant sales and made it sound like if u had a still working one ud have to scrap it and throw it away

That's not what they meant... they meant breeding dogs or cats for certain treats despite the health implications is cruel, not that the Savanah Cat was a hybrud between a cat and a dog

Good! I always depised people who buys these pugs that always have a lot of health issues just to "look cute". So selfish.... Also, at least in my country, I'd never buy any dog. The way they treat female dogs in those "factories" is absolutely horrible, as if they were some kind of birth machine.
