Netanyahu's far right government is back and it already spells bad news.

After months of tensions between Israel and Ukraine, incoming Israeli foreign minister now signals Russian détente. Israeli journalist Barak Ravid, believes that in light of the upcoming meeting between Russia’s and Israel’s foreign minister, the Netanyahu government will take a “more pro-Russian position.”

These tensions are likely to complicate certain weapon system transfers to Ukraine, specifically the ones Israeli technology might be involved.

It started in November when Ukraine voted in favor of a U.N resolution calling on the International Court to opine on the treatment of palestinians in the occupied territories.

This policy shift drew criticism even from the most ardent Israel supporters like GOP senator Lindsey Graham

Isn’t there a substantial Russian population in Israel? To me, it would seem Russian support is inevitable, even if the US bankrolls Israel’s existence.

basically this. Russian Jews are the biggest group in Israel so a good relationship between both nations seems inevitable tbh. BUT doing this in the middle of Russia's attacks on Ukraine as a way to get back at Ukraine seems really bad and is horrible for optics. Not a good move imo

it's Russians, Ukrainians and Georgians almost equally.

Anyway, Funny to complain about Ukraine when Russia was almost never pro-Israel in the UN votes, but Netanyahu is afraid of Putin and a little puppet like Trump.

There was never really a good relationship, in Israel they always tried to stop Russians with Jewish ancestry to immigrate back to Israel, because most of them are not practicing the religion

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

There's also a substantial number of Jews still living in Russia, the Israeli government would care about and that issue could partly motivate that kind of neutral-but-pro-Russia policy. I think it is a bit delusional as Putrid and his cronies would do whatever they want, other countries government wishes notwithstanding.

Not if the Russian Jews don’t support Putin. A lot of Russians don’t like Putin. A lot of Russians aren’t in Russia for a reason. They wanted to escape what it’s become.
