Russia starts printing maps of Russia with Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk etc

Well, too bad the world doesn't recognize these as legitimate. They can send their new maps to North Korea and play make-believe if they want to, but that won't change the fact that these regions are in fact part of Ukraine. I, too, can come up with and print out my very own fantasy world map, but that doesn't make it real.

In all honesty Russia does control a large portion of those territories. The reality on the ground is that as of now they belong to Russia so the map ''is real''. Before WW2 maps changed a lot more often to refect the changes on the ground, this is no longer the case and maps only reflect what is agreed upon by the majority of the countries.. This is why IS never showed up on maps, even though it was by all acounts real. This is why you don't see Syria divided on the maps, why there is no Nagorno-Karabah on maps why you don't see rebel groups in various African countries etc.

Yes, I get that it's all up in the air at the moment and technically these regions may largely be under Russian control for now. But as far as I understand the situation, this is Ukrainian territory which has wrongfully been occupied. I don't know if that's the correct political term, it probably isn't. But they might want to wait a bit before they print too many of those new maps, it might just be a waste of money in the long run. One can hope.
