For most US states signing up for the draft is embedded with getting a driver's license or ID. It's not usually explained when you apply, but chances are if you are over 18 and drive, then you have signed up for the draft. (Not all states do this though.)

It won’t happen. Like I cannot stress to people enough just how difficult it would be to bring the draft back and the whole list of reasons that it is unnecessary to have one in the 21st century to start with.

We aren’t. We haven’t been for almost 50 years. This is just a sign up in the event one comes back…which it never will. It would be borderline impossible to do in America in the 21st century.

I am already aware of that now. It would just be strange to sign up for something that hasn't been done in years, let alone make it mandatory. Never say never, though.

Rest assured it will be never. 

It just isn't functional today. A lot has changed about military enlistment acceptability requirements in 50 years. Back in the day, the only things that could get you out of a draft were being in college, having poor eyesight, or being an only child/only son. Today, there is a list of medical conditions both physical and mental a mile long that will get someone barred from military service ranging from things as complex as heart or kidney disease to things as common and widespread as food allergies, being too tall, or having braces. That would mean a significant amount of people who were drafted would, under federal law, be ineligible to serve rendering the whole thing useless. 

Legally speaking it would also be hassle. The only thing that could reinstate the draft is an act of Congress, but the chances of even a Republican congress deciding to do this are almost none. Politics are led today by the people who actively campaigned to get the draft ended in the first place, and that includes people on both sides of the political aisle. The draft is unpopular as well, so any politician who votes to reinstate it is effectively shooting their careers in the head. 

There's also a few legal questions about whether a draft is actually even constitutional and those questions could, and would, be argued in court and there's a good chance it would not turn up favorably for the government. 

The #1 reason it won't ever happen though? Because it isn't necessary. 

Voluntary enlistment numbers are healthier than they have ever been. There is no need to force people into the military because there's plenty of active and reserve soldiers already enlisted. Remember, wars in the modern era don't require throngs of soldiers. Wars today aren't often fought one on one on a battle field, they're fought technologically and remotely. The need of mass numbers of soldiers should a war break out is non-existent and should war break out, there are plenty of people on standby ready to handle it.

I live in one of them, but be sure that will change once we enter in a war! In these countries there are list compiled to see what persons qualify for war because the prospect became real.

If they mandate me to fight, I see no reason why I will be sent to a frontline but not my female counterparts. Males and females need to be equal in benefits but also duties, this "I love when people hold the door open to me or give me their seat on the bus, I RIGHTFULLY can work the same jobs as men do, I can choose when I start a family, but I stay at home while they go to war to perish" doesn't work. This is literal sexism and needs to be removed from society.
