Elton John and Britney Spears‘ “Hold Me Closer” bounds onto the chart at No. 6. 
The mash-up of three John hits, released Aug. 26, on Interscope, opens with 20.9 million in radio airplay audience, 11.1 million streams and 48,000 sold. It debuts at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales (marking Spears’ eighth leader and John’s second), No. 17 on Streaming Songs and No. 31 on Radio Songs.

Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” is steady at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 3, with top Sales Gainer honors (7,000, up 72%, sparked by a new CD single option and 69-cent sale-pricing during the tracking week).

oh yeah, but i feel like this is debuting because of britney fans and people that follows music in general, but something tells me, slowly and gradually the general public is going to start catching up to this song, specially older demographics

Yes, I feel that too. If #6 it's the peak I don't know, but after the natural fall in the second week, I feel that the song will climb again in 2-3 weeks

if you watch some videos of elton performing cold heart live, older people, like boomers or pre boomers sing the song word by word, specially dua's part, i think is this thing that elton have going on about making past hits modern yet still nostalgic and appealing to his fans

Legendary I fear 

This is not to start any fan war as I like Dua and Cold Heart but I’m shocked it charted higher. I doubt HMC will be as big as CH (so please don’t start a war) but I’m happy Brit has achieved this, she’s had a tough time and I know this song going Top 10 will bring her some happiness.
