L.A. Voters will decide if Vacant Hotels should house the Homeless!

HELLZ NAW. Who in the world would want to stay in a hotel knowing there could be homeless people next door. Maybe y’all are ok with that but I am not.  What next? If you have too big a house the homeless can move in? I love how people are here for it when it’s someone else’s house or business but would NEVER do it themselves. 
 

With that said, homeless people need help, and the government should figure out a way to do that with our tax dollars.   Putting other people at risk is NOT a solution by any stretch. Periodt.

There's so many better ways to help homelessness like maybe building affordable housing complexes, passing rent and renter's laws, worker's rights laws, giving a universal basic income, food waste laws,

In my city, they have been building “tiny home” communities in the past few years. It has taken many people off the streets. Counselors and security is also on site to help tenants. I think this could work in other cities too but sadly even that gets a lot of pushback .

what kind of logic is this? how would you know they're homeless? what if the rich guy wearing a suit in the room next to you is actually an axe murderer?

They are doing this in my city too. 60 tiny homes were built for 7.5 million and tenants also have access to healthcare and resources to help them get back on their feet. Tenants are expected to pay rent and maintain their space.  Sounds like an amazing investment to me.

How does this actually help? how about building/turning these hotels into somewhere affordable but nice to live in so that people don't become homeless

or helping the homeless find and sustain jobs to pay for affordable living

giving someone somewhere to live from the street doesn't solve every problem that led to them being there

From what ive experienced in Los Angeles most homeless people have very extreme drug and mental health issues. It’s like they are zombies walking. You’d need nurses doctors like a rehab because it’s very very sad tbh. And nothing has been done for decades. Cant even think about Skid Row. I mean people love to make fun of « Africa » because of ignorance but Skid Row… that’s the real mess, and the fact it happens in one of the most powerful country is even more shocking. Zero help, zero government intervention because « freedom ». Well look at it now

Omg how dare you question my logic while asking how I would know if an axe murderer could be in the room next to me. Like, is there a significant amount of instances of that happening that would cause me to be concerned about it? Wow.
