Nicki Minaj‘s “Super Freaky Girl” blasts onto the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1. Minaj earns her first Hot 100 No. 1 as an unaccompanied artist and her third overall, following “Trollz,” with 6ix9ine, and her featured turn on Doja Cat’s “Say So,” both in 2020.

The song was available for purchase via eight options since its release: explicit and clean versions of its standard mix (released Aug. 12); explicit and clean versions of its “Roman Remix” (released at midnight ET Aug. 18); and explicit and clean a cappella versions of both its standard version and “Roman Remix” (released at 10:30 p.m. ET Aug. 18). All versions were discounted to 69 cents Aug. 18.

Is 89k in the first week good? I'm not really up on what constitutes good first week sales in the US. Will be anticipating second week performance because we know that her previous #1's lasted one solitary week. Time will be the ultimate truth teller. It's her fanbase driving these sales. That doesn't bode well for longevity, just like her previous #1's. And like I said before, all 3 of her #1's had an abuser involved in some or all of the co-writing/producing/featuring/sampling. What a sad state of affairs. If you're going to get quick hits generated by nothing more than fans mass buying and cheating the system, at least have your hands clean with the songs themselves.

Most songs that debut at #1 don’t stay there and it has nothing to do with longevity. It’s because, like you said, #1 debuts are driven by fans and most of them obviously won’t buy the song again. It doesn’t mean that the song won’t have longevity, it only means that the artist has a huge fanbase.

“Rain On Me” was #1 for one week too and still ended up being a massive hit.

songs barely have 5K now, Beyoncé‘s “Break My Soul” had 13K (7 versions) when it reached #1 during release week .

Hmm crazy I don't see Kim Petras listed here and yet Kesha fans/Dr Luke detractors have been absolutely hellbent on ruining her career for the past 3 years :partysick:

Hope it falls outside the list next week...

Nevertheless, we lost. Miss Petty and the abuser escaped the Karma.

Why do I feel like 89K pure sales seem a little shady? That's hard to achieve nowadays. I know Nicki has her fanbase but hasn't she allegedly sent money to fans to mass buy her singles. I remember reading something like that very vaguely. Not to mention her fans trying to cheat the system by streaming on different accounts or something. But I think all fanbases do that.
