So two very conflicting narratives on twitter right now (I'm talking blue check journos and academics). 

One is that the people of Serbian descent in Kosovo set up barricades at the border as a protest and there's no conflict, and the police in Kosovo are blocking roads due to the protest. The other is pointing out the Serbian president's 'de nazify' remark, air raid sirens going off in Serbia (that has been confirmed), reports of gunfire, unconfirmed audio of gunfire, etc.

Things always spiral out of control in the Balkans.. so far it seems that nobody knows what is going.

But if clashes indeed happen, this is a new security crisis added on top of another security crisis.

Honestly, as our neighbours, I've always felt sorry for Serbs for what happened in the 90s. But lately, I can't help noticing that to this day as a nation they remain the biggest Chauvinists on the Balkan peninsula. All of us have toxic nationalistic minorities but Serbians really are on top of this nasty superiority thinking and, as the favourite "Balkan child"of Russia, they have historically had the privilege to kill and step over every neighbouring nation. Isn't it time to just let go of this ridiculous idea and live peacefully and stimulate the economic development of people in the whole region?
