Since when employment contract protects abusers? This is clearly not being dealt with since we see him squirreling around for 10 more years.

Employment contracts absolutely protect people at the top of company food chains. This is why we see this happen all the f*cking time. This is why abusers at the top of trust networks in professional environments get away with a decade or more of abuse before enough evidence piles up to FINALLY do something about it.

I thought she quit?

“But in 2011, her relationship with Gaga soured and they parted ways due to “Yessigans” — yes people — around the singer.

She writes in the book, “I’m convinced the falling-out between Lady Gaga and me… wasn’t about the two of us at all.

“Instead, some of the people around her thought I shouldn’t be working with other artists … They thought that I was taking too much spotlight — even though I didn’t want her spotlight,” she wrote.

“Just as I realized this chatter was happening, Gaga fired me. In an email. I’m not even sure she wrote it herself,” Gibson writes.”

Why is it so hard to believe that Gaga had no idea that this was happening? I mean.. neither did we, and this fanbase has been directly communicating with her dancers this entire time. People were choosing not to talk because the wanted to keep their jobs for whatever reason and that in turn perpetuates the abuse because no one is filing complaints.

I don't think it's that easy to get to Gaga, even when you are working with her team - the dancers were probably only in the room with her during rehearsals and performances. The direct line of communication would've been Richy, and if Richy is the only one talking to Gaga she's only going to hear his version of events. Abusers in professional environments take advantage of trust structures. This happens every day in the corporate world, and great CEOs can hire nightmare bosses who abuse their teams for years before sh*t hits the fan.

All of this is most likely true but the CEO of a company is still the head of the ship. When it goes down they are the ones held responsible. She makes it very clear that everything she does is with HER TEAM. So she needs to bare the responsibility of heading that team!

Part of me refuses to believe Gaga, having been a victim of abuse herself, wouldn't have fired Richy on the spot if she had known about this. But knowing this has been going on for A DECADE... It's getting really hard to believe Gaga didn't know. The only excuse I can think of is that Richy told the dancers "If you say anything, I'll make sure you never work in this industry again" or something. Abusers love to threaten. And I some of you pointed out, he was probably also protected by some higher-ups and an ironclad contract.

Anyway this is so messed up, and I hope Jeremy can find peace and heal from all the trauma.

She’s saying she doesn’t think Gaga wrote it herself…which leads me to believe that there are toxic variables working around her controlling certain things for self-preservation. Damn she needs new friends and Haus members.

Like let me make it clear: I feel HORRIBLE for Jeremy and I wish him peace, healing and justice.

But why are so many people immediately pivot to "WELL THIS SURE REFLECTS BAD ON GAGA" when we're talking about a man in a position of power who has been abusing people for this long? Like I get that she's his employer but RICHY IS THE ABUSER. He'd be doing this no matter where he works. And I'm sure he will continue to do this if/when he leaves the Haus in a different capacity.

Call out the abuser.

When I say Haus, I'm most definitely not targeting Gaga specifically. There are a lot of people around the artist whose jobs are to run this huge machine and whose mission is to ensure everyone works in a safe environment.

I work in the film and television industry and if I was to suffer abuse at my workplace, that would make no sense for me to complain to actors or directors, I would go straight to producers. I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent in the touring industry. Someone here has failed these dancers.

I agree with you, but she's the captain of this ship so it automatically reflects on her whether you like it or not. And it's especially bad considering how vocal she's been against abuse, like... Girl, clean up your own backyard before giving lessons to people, that's pretty much what it's saying.

Leaving this here for the people who think choreographers are protected by some magical contracts that prevents them from being fired on the spot.

She will take responsibility but I'm willing to bet she didn't know the full extent of what was happening or other people in the Haus were protecting Richy.

It's good that this is coming out but I'm sure this is bringing up a lot for her right now as the tour is starting. The next few days and weeks aren't going to be easy on her mind and body.

and yet people on this site keep justifying Gaga saying she didn't know anything about it. She surely knew it but did nothing

I agree with you. It's a shame this has to be happening right this moment, but I guess this reckoning was long overdue. I don't know when or how she'll address this, but she has to.

It's important to take into consideration that richy is a good friend of gaga's, not just a choreographer.

We don't talk about this enough in Abusive situations, but the Abusive people ALWAYS end up being the biggest manipulators. Gaga has worked with this man for over 10 year's. It's a messy situation. I do however believe she will deal with this in the right way.
