ItWasntLaauv 6,392
If she did a surprise release without a single or anything like Beyoncé (self-titled), I think it would make streaming services collapse.

Economy 49,571
I said 200K to 300K anticipating the younger generation (like 24 and under) probably isn't gonna stream her in huge numbers But this is hard to predict, there's a lot of people that have been waiting eagerly for her release too so... I wouldn't be surprised either if Billboards optimistic predictions turn out to be the case. I feel with Rihanna there's a huge potential range in which the debut may end up happening with

JRCF29 8,194
My guess is 220,000, which would be a strong debut. I think that artists always run the risk of underperforming in their comeback era if they're away from the musical world for too long, as is the case with Rihanna, and I can't see 500,000+ sales (unless the album includes a collab with BTS, The Weeknd, etc.) Rihanna has also always struck me as more of a singles artist, fwiw Don't Call Me Gaga
whoresup 2,668
R8 didn’t do unbelievable numbers although the anticipation for this one plus her celebrity status now might give it a better chance than that.
dollardays 3,802
Will people still be here for it after all these years? She's not really an album artist
Mirrion Rizzons 10,903
she's never had huge debuts so I'd say around 210k-260k, although it'll have longevity and I can see her comeback song becoming her 15th number one single
StrawberryBlond 14,820
It's really hard to predict at this point as a gap of this magnitude between albums means you're going to be pretty much starting over from scratch and practically treat them as if they're a new artist. It sounds dramatic, but recent events have proven this to be true. I really don't get why some people have voted for the 1 million option. The biggest artists in the world who have been much more active in the industry as of late can't pull in those figures. Taylor hasn't put out a 1 million debut since Reputation, Gaga hasn't done it since BTW, Beyonce and Ed have never done it. The current music market makes it very difficult for debut sales like that ever again. Most notably, Adele has a very similar career to Rihanna's lately in terms of gaps. She took 6 years between 25 and 30. 25 sold 3.48 million in the first week, setting the all-time record. 6 years later, 30 debuted with 839k. Which would be awesome for anyone else but that fall was astronomical, especially considering that her lead single had been #1 in America for 3 consecutive weeks prior to the album's release. A lot can change in 6 years and if Adele is not the best example of that, I don't know who is. Rihanna's young fanbase have grown up and moved on and the current generation are stuck on much younger names, who are at the age she was at her peak. You have to remember that there was a big delayed wait between Unapologetic and Anti as well. Rihanna's only released one album in 9 and a half years. If this were anyone else, this wouldn't even be a conversation, they'd be deemed done. I don't know why Rihanna gets such a free pass from pop culture fans. The ironic thing is, for all they claim they're still so thirsty for new music, the majority probably won't buy it if it ever does get released.
