There are literally more shootings than sunrises here. We're desensitized to an extreme level. I have no idea how that'll be fixed but you're right, it is a problem. It's a problem with our culture and a problem with our hearts. I can only pray we vote for some legislators that pass some kind of reform. Thanks for acknowledging that. It’s such a tragedy that systematically repeats itself. It’s like you’re broken at your core. But I believe that something will only change if rioting occurs. Legislators are paid by the NRA to keep this up. 2 hours ago, BehindTheAura12 said: Yeah like, I'm not a patriotic person by any means and I despise this country lol, but as soon as any mass tragedy happens in America the thread will be full of people using dead kids as like... a gotcha? Like "HA! Europe doesn't have this! Loser Americans." It's weird and I'm not sure what point they're trying to make. Using dead kids as “gotcha”? Not sure what point we’re trying to make? I’m clearly more enraged and more irritated by YOUR children dying than you are, it seems. This isn’t about me, or about other countries versus America. USA being a shitty country is a conclusion, not the issue at hand. The issue is that your system and your people allow for children to be killed every week to maintain your ass-backwards, insane firearm laws. It’s monstrous, inhumane and despicable. It’s mind boggling, preposterous and absurd to the outside perspective, because IT IS all those things. Children should not be dying in schools! We’re judging because WE CAN JUDGE YOU. It’s wrong on so mant fundamental levels that the conclusion we get to is “yep, the US is a ****ed up, shitty place”.

Rioting will just energize the morons that excuse lax gun laws and hide behind that broken 200 year old constitutional amendment. As much as I wish we had the kind of passion to riot, I don't think that's a constrictive form of protest. Organizing marches, movements, and election day drives is where we'll do what needs to be done to put an end to this. It's just...idk if enough people have enough passion for even that. Like you said, we're broken. So worn down by ourselves. Half the people here don't even care enough to vote. It's sad. Whimsical bitch

The anger is towards shitty governing not the American people. America has a gun culture problem, that's just a fact and the comparisons with other countries is just a good example to show that gun control works. I don't think people mean to come of patronizing, It's just frustrating seeing things like this happen all the time when everyone can see the problem and the people in power refuse to do anything. I don't disagree with anything you've said and I think you bring up good points, but there have been people in this thread specifically calling all Americans horrible people lol. Specifically Hyoha. My point was more that threads like this seem to devolve into a US v. Europe competition amongst members, and only really in threads like this. If it were a common occurrence, sure, but it just seems opportunistic to specifically pit your countries against each other in times like this. I think the US is MORE than deserving of criticism, but a lot of the criticisms in this thread and others aren't really critical and are more just "This doesn't happen in our country therefore we are more civilized," which I don't think is helpful critique directed toward the government. Hope that makes sense 21 minutes ago, Hyoha said: Using dead kids as “gotcha”? Not sure what point we’re trying to make? I addressed your points in depth and explained my own experiences + how I, and many others, are trying to enact some sort of change, but it really just seems like you're more interested in taking the moral high ground and saying "I'M more mad at dead kids than you are, filthy American!" Like do you really think implying that you are more mad than I am that 19 children are dead is in any way respectful or encourages an actual discussion rather than a shouting match? Of course I'm upset. How I type doesn't mean I'm not enraged. I've been personally affected by gun violence in my own life, which you'd know if you read my other post. If you want to read my other post and respond to it, great, if not, I don't really feel like this conversation will offer anything of value to anyone. I just think this demonstrates how hostility and cruelty to any human being brings massive implications for one’s psychology, that they commit such heinous, horrific acts. As you’ve said, we can’t excuse what we’ve done, yet simultaneously we can accept that this may’ve been a “nurture over nature” case, as is most crime

Gov Hooka 8,008
The United States is the number one weapons manufacturer in the world, has the largest military, the largest police, and engages in some of the worst war crimes in recent history. You cannot separate that (international violence) from the violence at home.

I disagree vehemently that voting will solve any of this when many liberals themselves admit that the political system is stacked against them. It’s exactly why the only real solutions are beyond voting. Rioting was the impetus for nearly all the progressive social change in the USA.
