I swear the US has no ambition no moral standards no interest on self awareness about its implacable capitalism. They are responsible for great wars and war crimes whilst there is no accountability no interest in social security. Privatizing the school system has been top priority for republicans for years. Things like school choice vouchers and the don’t say gay bill are purposefully created to take funding away from public schools. This is also why we’ve seen a massive right wing push for “parental rights” in schools. 
 

This will continue happening until democrats decide to actually do something and pass legislation to overturn citizens United. The private school lobby is one of the Republican party’s biggest donor groups. For example. Betsy Devos, trumps secretary of education, never had any experience in education prior to becoming secretary, but she does happen to be a private school heiress who directly Profits from the destruction of the public school system. But interestingly enough, her family has donated HUNDREDS of millions of dollars to the GOP.

It’s 100% motivated by money, it’s never about caring if it makes thing worse. The private school lobby is one of the GOPs largest donor groups. The Devos family alone has donated over $200M to the Republican Party.
