My parents, for example, would struggle to name one Rihanna song but I’m sure they could name a Gaga or Katy song. TBH they could probably name a Dua song before a Rihanna one. Someone like Katy, in her heyday, had hits that were as big with children as they were with college kids and older adults too. Adele is another artist that is very multigenerational. I feel like that matters in terms of measuring impact.
Yaaaas Gaga 937
Hits and impact are two very different things and i've always felt it's the latter that is more important to your success and longevity. There's a lot of artists that can sell and stream songs until the cows come home but they have very little impact on people and the industry. Lady Gaga is an example of someone who has had a huge impact and her global outreach is matched by very few others.

I have lived in multiple countries in Europe and the ME, barely anyone (outside stan culture fans) know who that is and probably know one or two of her songs from the radio. Pink, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Drake and Lady Gaga are definitely very popular the last decade. COME ON GAYS!!

I feel like that matters in terms of measuring impact. I feel like that's 'cause Rihanna is a hit maker but I don't think of her personally much at all. Idk if that's 'cause she's a private person or if it's 'cause her more open moments never gained a lot of attention. A lot of pop stars put themselves out there both as artists and as people. Sometimes the hits cross paths with the personalities. That's why even though Gaga isn't a massive hit maker in comparison to some of her peers, she's regarded as one of the most influential and popular artists alive. To the point that aside from that stupid stunt controversy, the most talked about Oscars moment was her being nice to Liza. And you'll find numerous headlines with some variation of "the Grammy awards were just a Lady Gaga meet and greet". Everyone loves her. She steals the show every time. With Rihanna, everyone loves her music but the only time eyes are on her is when she's on stage. But yeah, Rihanna's the clear choice here for hit maker and it's not even close. The lady had an immaculate music career and now a ridiculously successful career as an Avon lady You're stinky

I don't know what you're talking about as Ariana's last couple of singles have debuted at #1 in nearly every country with bigger first week numbers than most of those you just named. Ariana went on a big tour in Europe and sold out back to back dates. She's absolutely huge in Europe. If any big star is NOT as big in Europe like the US it's Taylor Swift which is why she can't even book a stage anywhere outside of the UK.

Rihanna is probably the LEAST successful touring act of her peers because the common opinion of her as a performer is that she's not that good. Rihanna has more hits than the rest but she doesn't have the most impact nor is she regarded as even CLOSE to the status of talent Gaga has by the general public. Or Beyoncé for that matter.
